With the Denver Broncos apparently having the day off yesterday, the Indianapolis Star finally devoted some time to the Indianapolis Colts' roster. Their focus was on the one roster position still of major concern heading into 2012: cornerback. As Mike Chappell pointed out, the numbers don't lie with regard to the Colts pitiful performance against the pass last season. The Colts finished 15th overall against the pass based on yardage, but that's simply a by-product of teams having significant leads in the fourth quarter of games and running out the clock. The number that's really shocking is the Colts' defensive passer efficiency rating. Only the woeful Minnesota Vikings secondary performed worse than the Colts last season. Opposing quarterbacks had a 103.9 rating against the Colts last season. A major factor in that rating was a league worst 71.2 per cent completion rating. That number might be excusable playing in the same division as Drew Brees or Tom Brad...

Luck ready to get started

Austin Collie recently had dinner with Andrew Luck and noticed the rookie quarterback is getting twitchy: Luck's last final exam is Thursday, then he can attend the Colts' June 12-14 mandatory minicamp. He has been trying to stay sharp at Stanford with private workouts, but Colts wide receiver Austin Collie said it has been a challenging time for his new teammate. "...

Colts Authority Participates in Press Conference at Dwight Freeney's Football Procamp

On Wednesday and Thursday this week, Dwight Freeney held his fifth annual football procamp for kids ages 7-14 years old. He took a little time out of his camp schedule Wednesday morning to answer some questions for local media in attendance. Thanks to our work with ProCamps Worldwide, who were fantastic hosts and partners, Colts Authority was able to be a part of the event and asked...

Colts Sign Veteran Cornerback Justin KIng

According to Jim Irsay's informative Twitter account, the Colts have signed veteran cornerback Justin King, who started 12 games for St. Louis last season. The Colts were rumored to be looking at King a few weeks ago, but nothing came out of it until today. King was Pro Football Focus' worst graded cornerback last season, with a negative 22.6 grade. Yes, worse than Jacob...

Yesterday's OTA was one that was attended by various media members, and as such, now seems as good of a time as any to go over some interesting points that have come out of the early workouts.  First, there are some interesting quotes coming out of the Colts' camp regarding the running backs in 2012. First, we hear this from Jim Irsay:  ColtsFans,I like Brown,Carter...

Andrew Luck's long, anxious wait to start practicing with the Colts is almost over. After the Colts wrap up mini-camp and Luck finishes his final college classes Thursday, the No. 1 overall draft pick will finally start throwing passes to his new teammates when the Colts reconvene for a mandatory mini-camp next week. Those who have spoken to Luck say he can't wait. Luck...

Colts hold running back competition

Getty Images Having veteran quarterbacks compete with each other and rookies for their place as a starter seems to be the new trend this offseason, (think Arizona’s and Miami’s competitions for starting QB) and now the Indianapolis Colts have decided to set the next trend by holding a running back battle in training camp. Donald Brown, the former Colts first round draft pick...

Colts continue OTAs while waiting on Luck

The Colts' top two draft picks aren't in attendance for this week's OTAs while quarterback Andrew Luck and tight end Coby Fleener take their final exams at Stanford, but coach Chuck Pagano said he's extremely pleased with where the team is at. Owner Jim Irsay tweeted on Tuesday that a deal with Luck is "getting close," and the expectation is a contract...

AFC South: Most Indispensable Players

Indianapolis Colts Andrew Luck — No brainer. If any team knows the value of their franchise quarterback, it’s the Indianapolis Colts. Luck is the Colts’ foundation for rebuilding a contingent team. Losing him, at this point in the rebuilding process, would turn the entire team upside down. Dwight Freeney – Freeney is one of the few veterans that will return to the Colts’...

In Case You Missed It: Dwight Freeney's Awesome Quote

Somehow I missed this awesome quote by Dwight Freeney in a FOX Sports exclusive last month. It's always refreshing to hear players spouting loyalty for a town, but when it entails references to LeBron James' "Decision" two years ago, it adds a layer of humor that I personally find hilarious. “I’m kind of old-school when it comes to that thought. I’m not LeBron...
