The Indianapolis Colts had another 11-5 season after today’s victory. So to those saying that the Colts were going to take a big step back this year, there you go. Andrew Luck had a good day against the regular season match-up against the Kansas City Chiefs. A team they are most likely to see again in the wild card round. (Photo credit: Colts.com) They ended up with the same record as they had last year and with a much tougher schedule. As many high schoolers say these days: haters gon’ hate. Winning the AFC South division has guaranteed the Colts a home game in the wild card round but the question now is: What seed will they be? With a win by the Cincinnati Bengals, the 2nd seed is out of the question but the 3rd seed is still a possibility: as long as the Buffalo Bills beat the New England Patriots. Honestly, the fact that the San Diego Chargers are most likely going to be the 6th seed at this point, the 4th seed doesn’t seem all that bad. The Colts just seem to always find a way to fall short of the Bolts in their match-ups, including the Monday night disaster this season. And after watching the Kansas City Chiefs struggle against the horseshoe at Arrowhead stadium last week, they seem like a lot less menacing opponent. Jerrell Freeman and the Colts defense have to step up in order for the Colts to make a deep run in the playoffs. (Photo credit: Colts.com) But, of course, the 3rd seed could come in handy down the road. If the Colts made the AFC championship along with the Chargers or New England Patriots (both notorious Colts rivals) home-field advantage could be a big factor. All that being said, I like the Colts to win their wild card match-up, regardless of the situation. And I don’t want to say I expect them to win a divisional match-up against the Bengals or Denver Broncos, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they did. Basically, this team has a great shot at a trip to New York City in a weak AFC conference. Especially with the way they’ve been playing. Great quarterback play, a nice running game, an improving defense and one very clutch kicker. Week 17 is one of the best days of the year. Nothing better than watching play-in games combined with teams fighting for their lives. Enjoy the rest of the games and watch out for the boys in blue come 2014. Go Colts!
