FLOWERY BRANCH – Falcons starting left tackle Sam Baker missed his second day of practice with a lower back injury on Thursday.
If Baker is not ready to play against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, Will Svitek would get the start.
Baker had been playing well after a slow start to the season. He had tough matchup in the opener against Chicago’s Julius Peppers and in the second game against Philadelphia’s Trent Cole.
After the line had given up 13 sack in the first three games, Falcons coach Mike said the staff was considering shaking up the starting line. The week before the Seattle game, Baker and Svitek were splitting time with the first-team.

NFL Week 7- Do the Atlanta Falcons face a must win against the Detroit Lions?
In NFL Week 7, the Atlanta Falcons will be taking on the upstart Detroit Lions, do the Falcons face a must-win this week? The NFC South division winner in 2010 has struggled early this season and I’m not sure if you could deem this game as a must-win, but the Falcons can ill-afford to fall further behind in their division.
Atlanta is currently a game behind the New...
Falcons QB Matt Ryan back to pass vs. Lions

Falcons Must “Transform” Lions Offense
Calvin Johnson and the Lions pack a powerful punch in the passing game. They have continued to prove that they can just throw the ball around the 6’6” Johnson, and no matter how many defenders are around, he will come down with it. In just six games, he already has nine touchdown grabs and averages 15.7 yards per catch. Ranking 5th in the league in reception yards, Johnson is...
