When I’ve delved into the numbers leading up to the Atlanta Falcons’ game over the last two weeks, they have been entirely one-sided in favor of our Dirty Birds. While the final score has been much closer than the numbers would have taught us, this week’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles has numbers that appear to be far closer.
The Eagles come into this game with a 3-2 record, which is good enough to tie them atop the NFC East. Former Falcons leader Mike Vick does not appear likely to suit up for this game, so the Eagles will be once again forced to go with Kevin Kolb under center. The Eagles have traditionally been a strong passing team throughout recent history, but this team revolves around running back Lesean McCoy, who in just his second NFL season is a dual threat out of the backfield. He is an effective runner, but just as effective as a receiver.
This battle of the birds is very close on paper, and should be equally as close on the field on Sunday. But...
