Insider Speculates As To Odds Of Kellen Moore Getting Head Coach Consideration
USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers officially started to clean house, as they fired both head coach Brandon Staley and GM Tom Telesco. Though the search for a new HC and GM won't take place until playoffs conclude, many experts believe current offensive coordinator Kellen Moore could be up for the job.

It would make perfect sense for Moore to get a shot at being a head coach, as was impressive as the OC of the Dallas Cowboys. He has also had success with the Chargers apart from this season, which was riddled with injuries.

Despite Moore being a young mind, it appears that the Chargers might not be poised to give him a shot. They are instead planning to go in a completely different direction with their new hire.

“The Chargers have offensive coordinator Kellen Moore in their building and likely would interview him, but they appear intent on making a clean break and heading in a different direction. They didn’t even give him the interim coaching job, instead assigning outside linebackers coach Giff Smith for the rest of the season.”

It makes sense that Dean Spanos wants nothing to do with what the Chargers had planned before. Despite Moore being a young and dynamic mind, the Bolts are going to allow themselves to have a clean slate all the way through.

Considering how disastrous this season was, it makes sense that the organization wants to move away from the current coaching staff. Does this mean that Moore will move on after this season? It could be. Then again, we highly doubt the Chargers won't at least give Moore an interview when the time comes.
