Jon Gruden critical of Dion Jordan: He’s one-dimensional (Video)

Jon Gruden has been criticized for his easy-going commentary in the “Monday Night Football” booth, but he certainly showed his “Chucky” side when commenting on the Miami Dolphins’ selection of Dion Jordan at No. 3 overall in the NFL Draft on Thursday. Gruden, who is generally positive in his commentary, expressed many reservations about the Dolphins’ pick. “When I watch...

Dolphins draft strategy: target playmakers

When the comissioner announced that the Miami Dolphins had acquired the third overall pick, the first player that came to mind was offensive tackle Lane Johnson. I know I wasn't alone there. Based on the Dolphins draft strategy of the past, it seemed likely that the team would once again draft for need and upgrade at the most glaring hole on the roster. Instead, Jeff Ireland...

Dolphins “shocked” they were able to get Dion Jordan

Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland told the Miami Herald that they wanted Dion Jordan more than anyone and felt like that had to trade up to land him. “He was a player that we coveted quite a bit,” Ireland said. “We was very high on our board. We think he’s an outstanding talent, has tremendous versatility. He’s a great kid. We think the world of the player and...

Grading round 1 of the Dolphins draft.

Well, it is safe to say not many of us ‘experts’ saw this coming. Jeff Ireland is wheeling and dealing like a man possessed. Jeff Ireland reportedly began the trade up process targeting a certain WR many DolFans have been drooling over. However, the Bills refused to trade their pick within their own division. Instead of standing pat, which we fans have become accustomed too,...

Miami Dolphins Draft Day Two: What's the Plan?

The Miami Dolphins shocked the NFL world last night by trading for the Oakland Raiders third overall pick and drafting Dion Jordan out of Oregon. The trade left Miami with one less second round pick, but it gave them the best defensive player in the draft and a potentially elite pass rusher to go alongside Cameron Wake. Jordan constantly draws comparisons to Jason Taylor, so he...

Dolphins looking at trading up, possibly for Joeckel?

This week, everyone seems to have a rumor about the Miami Dolphins and a theory about what they are going to do in this year’s draft. The truth is, this is exactly what the Dolphins want.  They do not want anyone to know if they are trading up, or down, or sideways (wait, what?).  They don’t want other teams to know what players they are really interested in. This time of year...

Brandon Albert likely staying in Kansas City for now

According to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald,  Dolphins general manage Jeff Ireland doesn’t seem optimistic that they’ll be able to get a trade completed to acquire offensive tackle Brandon Albert from the Chiefs. Jeff Ireland says Brandon Albert trade “Is not going to really amount to much, my personal opinion.” But adds, “never say never.” — Armando Salguero...

EJ Manuel accidentally got phone call meant for No. 3 pick Dion Jordan

Former Florida State star EJ Manuel made out better than many people expected in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday. The Buffalo Bills selected him with the 16th overall pick, and he ended up being the only quarterback taken in the first 32 selections. However, there was a brief moment when Manuel thought the night was going to turn out even better. Just before the Miami...

The crystal ball: 1st Round Mock Draft

After about eight long months of intense draft preparations, we have all officially survived mock draft season and the real deal is finally here. As Mel Kiper has stated, “This has not been a comfortable year to do mock drafts.” Here we are less than 24 hours away from Roger Goodell announcing Kansas City is on the clock and there is still debate on who the pick should be. 2013 NFL Draft: 3 Reasons Dion Jordan Will Bust In Miami

It’s hard to believe that a player who looks like a basketball player in shoulder pads could not pan out to be the player the team that drafted him could be. That might be the situation facing Dion Jordan when he walks out onto the field in Miami. The 6’6”, 250-pound defensive end is still a work in progress. Can the Dolphins be patient with him and see what he can become rather...
