Jim Irsay has talked of continuity and family but took time to clarify his stance with Judy Battista of the NY Times: “Continuity is a great thing; staying the course and being patient, those are important virtues. But also there is virtue in being realistic enough to know you have to make serious changes sometimes.” And so the handwriting is probably on the wall for the real end of the Colts’ golden era, but not before the temporary party village fills with revelers for the game Irsay fought so hard to bring to Indiana. Dungy said that no loss on the field was as crushing to him and Irsay as when Indianapolis’s first Super Bowl bid was denied in 2007, and Dallas won the 2011 game.
