Aaron Maybin: Ready to improve? At Jersey Jets Fan, we’ve already noted that Aaron Maybin was an extremely pleasant surprise during the 2011 season. His non-stop motor and determination caused havoc around the quarterback, helping Maybin to rack up a few sacks and forced fumbles. Yet while Maybin enjoyed some success in his first year with the Jets, his small size ultimately limited him to obvious passing down situations. It seems as though Maybin is ready to take on a bigger role with the New York Jets however, and he’s been working towards his new goal this offseason. While Maybin did not adopt Phelps’ famed 12,000 calories-a-day diet, the 24-year-old did try to pack on some pounds entering this season. He said he is eating between 5,000 and 6,000 calories a day to bulk up.
