General Manager Rod Graves often talks of keeping the team's core of young players together, and the team has done a much better job of it in recent years. Defensive end Calais Campbell is part of that core. But while the Cardinals want to re-sign left tackle Levi Brown, I'm not sure he's included as a "core" player.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Arizona Cardinals will use their franchise tag on defensive end Calais Campbell if both sides aren’t able to agree on a long-term deal before free agency opens up.
The 25 year-old Campbell had another strong season in 2011 with 72 tackles, 8 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 1 interception.
