Will Brian Dawkins decide to call it a career in 2012?
That is the question that faces him. It seems apparent that Denver has no plans to re-sign Dawkins, who will become a free agent. He has missed the end of this season with a neck injury and missed some time last year due to a neck ailment as well.
CSNPhilly’s Reuben Frank caught up with Broncos GM John Elway at the Combine and asked about the team’s plans for Dawk. Elway revealed that he hadn’t spoken to Dawkins, and it didn’t sound like he has plans to do so.
“I have not had a chance to talk with Brian to see what his plans are, whether he’d like to come back or not. Not speaking for him, I know he’s probably going through a tough time — having been a football player — how hard it is making that decision when you’re getting close to the end of your career whether you want to continue to play or not.”
If he plays in 2012, it will be the 17th season in the NFL for Dawkins.
