Going into this offseason, it was presumed the Ravens’ starting linebackers would be Terrell Suggs, Ray Lewis, Jameel McClain and Paul Kruger. Then the draft came and the Ravens selected Courtney Upshaw out of Alabama.
The big blow came right around the same time when Suggs tore his Achilles’ tendon. That’s when the look of the starting lineup really changed.
Suggs will miss part of, if not the whole, season with his injury so where will his defensive production come from? We’re not just talking about sacks here.
Suggs is an all-around excellent defensive player and reigning Defensive Player of the Year.
What do I think? Well, obviously I have some thoughts otherwise I wouldn’t be writing this blog tonight.
Kruger, a fourth-year linebacker, should get the nod on Suggs’ side of the defense with a combination of Upshaw, Sergio Kindle and Michael McAdoo, among others, on the other side.
