Pat Shurmur starts his second year as the browns head coach. Let’s face it folks, Pat Shurmur didn’t have a spectacular first year on the job. Many fans in Cleveland feel Pat Shurmur is not the right guy to lead the Cleveland browns, they feel one of the reasons he’s here, is because of his family ties to Browns President Mike Holmgren.
With this sale of the Cleveland Browns pending, Pat Shurmur’s job will be viewed with a microscope this year. The Cleveland Browns drafting Trent Richardson and Brandon Weeden in the first round of this year’s NFL draft, Pat Shurmur has to hope these two guys can make an impact for the team.
If the sale of the Cleveland Browns is complete before the 2012 NFL season officially starts, Mike Holmgren could be replaced as the team’s president. If that’s the case, Shurmur will lose the protection he once had at the top of the Cleveland Browns organization.
With Jimmy Haslam buying the Cleveland Browns there is plenty of speculation t...

Another step in Weeden's educational process
BEREA -- The education of a rookie continued Sunday.
Brandon Weeden got baptism by pads, and he understood immediately that the first Cleveland Browns training camp practice in full gear meant the intensity was that much higher.
Especially for the defensive guys, Weeden said. Throw those pads on and start thumping up, theyre just hungry to do that. Everybody gets more intense.
Its...
Rookie Josh Gordon makes impact at Browns camp
Three days into his first NFL training camp, Josh Gordon is making an impact with the Cleveland Browns.
Practicing in front of fans for the first time Saturday, the wide receiver made several nice catches and heard cheers.
He also dropped a 40-yard pass in the corner of the end zone and had veteran defensive back Joe Haden nastily knock him off stride.
Coach Pat Shurmur says it...

Joe Banner Brings Winning Experience and Tough Decisions to Cleveland
Joe Banner will have some decisions to make in Cleveland
While Randy Lerner’s sale of the Cleveland Browns to Jimmy Haslam is not yet official, it’s becoming quite clear that everyone expects the deal to go through without issue. Furthermore, we now know that former Philadelphia Eagles President Joe Banner is a part of Haslam’s ownership group.
What does that mean for the Cleveland...
McCoy vs. Weeden makes for a good history lesson
One of the things we talked about most last year at this time was the maturity of Colt McCoy. He got the team together for “Camp Colt” down in Texas. He spent a weekend throwing with Brett Favre to try and improve his game. He had the support of his teammates in camp and did all the big interviews with the national writers that came through town. That was last year. This year...
Will Browns Linebacker D’Qwell Jackson Be The Glue That Holds The Cleveland Defense Together?
Last season the Cleveland Browns fans were treated to having something special with linebacker D’Qwell Jackson returning to play in a season healthy. Jackson had a fantastic year and led the Browns in many stats. Browns coaches and fans are wondering if the defensive line is going to have huge holes in it this season. With the absence of Phil Taylor and Ahtyba Rubin, D’Qwell...

Business as usual as Browns open 2012 camp

Browns DT Ahtyba Rubin Recovering From Procedure To Repair Slight Pelvis Tear
Browns defensive tackle Ahtyba Rubin, who turned in what many consider a Pro Bowl-caliber season in 2011, is recovering from a procedure about six weeks ago to repair a slight pelvic tear, a source told the Plain Dealer. The injury is similar to a sports hernia. It's unknown how Rubin suffered the tear. Rubin, who finished second on the team with 83 tackles and second with five...
Mike Holmgren On His Way Out In Cleveland?
Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Steelers minority owner Jim Haslam could take over the Browns as soon as Week 1 of this year. The impending sale seems strange when you consider Haslams ties to one of the Browns division rivals, but Im sure theyre all for an owner that will prioritize results. A new ownership change would likely have a huge impact on...
Forbes: Browns to be sold for $920 million
Randy Lerner’s father, Al Lerner, bought the Browns for $530 million in 1998. After a decade of losing, Randy was looking to sell the Brownies for a price upward of $1 billion (sweet gig, being a sports owner, eh?). While it looks like Lerner’s billion dollar asking price won’t be met, I’d imagine he’ll be okay with this outcome:
Randy Lerner is in the process of selling...
Gordon Flashes in First Practice
