Is Troy Polamalu becoming a Box Safety? This is a good question. Polamalu has always been considered a triple threat safety. He tackles like a linebacker. Is fast like a cornerback and covers like a safety. He is a huge playmaker and is what makes the Steelers defense go.
This play right here where you see Polamalu score a touchdown versus the Bengals may have been what has put this idea out there. Polamalu intercepted a pass from his former USC roommate Carson Palmer and took it to the house. On the play Polamalu dove for the end zone. When he did he got up gingerly. It was later found that it was an achilles injury. These can finish off a career. Troy played the rest of the season with the injury.
This injury can take over a year to heal if it is minor. If you just tweak it you won’t be the same for 6 months. Troy is still one month away from being a year out from the injury. It occurred on December 12 last season. He has come back and played well but is not th...

The Pittsburgh Steelers Head to Their Bye at 7-3
What a difference a week makes. The Steelers limped out of Heinz Field after losing to the Baltimore Ravens for the second time this season in heartbreaking fashion, knowing they faced a two-game deficit in the AFC North and what approached a must-win game in Cincinnnati. A week later, the Steelers find themselves at 7-3 and very much in the race for the division title as they...
Roethlisberger should play against KC
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin says quarterback Ben Roethlisberger should be on the field and playing effectively Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs despite a fractured right thumb.
Roethlisberger broke the thumb in the second half of the Steelers' win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Nov. 13. He wore a splint under his glove and didn't take a snap from under center during...
Bengals WR A.J. Green Optimistic He Won't Miss Time With Hamstring Injury
Rookie wide receiver A.J. Green sounded optimistic about playing next Sunday in Baltimore after hyperextending his right knee on his 36-yard touchdown catch late in the first quarter. Green caught the pass between Steelers safeties Ryan Clark and Troy Polamalu but came down straight legged as he made the catch. Green was on the field for the next possession and had a 7-yard run on...
10 Observations From Steelers at Bengals
The Steelers pulled out a win versus the Bengals today to take a 7-3 record in to the bye week. The Steelers will be no worse then second in the AFC North and most likely no worse then 3rd in the AFC. The Steelers look to be in good position on the way to the playoffs. Here is what I saw in today’s game.

The Steelers ended the Bengals' five-game winning streak with a little
vintage defense in a 24-17 win over upstart Cincinnati.
Steelers hold off upstart Bengals 24-17 (AP)
With the game on the line, rookie Andy Dalton couldn't handle a little old-fashioned Pittsburgh defense. Rashard Mendenhall ran for a pair of touchdowns Sunday, and the Steelers intercepted Dalton twice in the fourth quarter, holding on for a 24-17 victory over the upstart Cincinnati Bengals. Pittsburgh (7-3) ended the Bengals' five-game winning streak and got a needed victory.
Steelers Snap Bengals 5-Game Win Streak With 24-17 Victory
Rashard Mendenhall scored the go-ahead touchdown late in the third quarter and Pittsburgh's defense came up with two interceptions in the fourth to claim a 24-17 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in a key AFC North battle. Mendenhall carried the ball 16 times for 44 yards and two scores for the Steelers (7-3), who came into the game a half-game behind the Bengals and Ravens...
Disappointing day for Bengals
CINCINNATI -- A.J. Green went up between Ryan Clark and Troy Polamalu, two of the game's best safeties.
Green came down with the ball -- and a 36-yard Bengals touchdown. The Bengals' uber-rookie does things like that.
Unfortunately, Green came down awkwardly on his right knee. He was down in the end zone for nearly a minute before being helped off. He came back and took...
