If you don’t like either Seattle Seahawks defensive back Richard Sherman or ESPN’s master debater Skip Bayless, than this video may be completely mind-numbing [although you can enjoy the fact that Stephen A Smith sits silent the whole time]. The argument stemmed from Bayless’ belief that Sherman is not an elite NFL cornerback, certainly not in the league of the New York Jets Darrelle Revis, and has allowed his trash talking to overshadow his talent on the field.  The heated exchange on Thursday’s edition of ESPN’s First Take featured some zingers from Sherman as he attacked Bayless.  The line that was most reported and most newsworthy – “In my 24 years of life, I’m better at life than you.” – is something we will examine a little more in detail. What does it mean to be “better at life?”  We will examine 5 different areas – integrity, educations, friendships, athletics, and speaking ability – that will asses who is truly better at life. Integrity Richard Sherman:  Integrity became a big issue for Sherman when he was suspended 4 games in November 2012 for violating the NFL’s Substance Abuse policy after testing positive for Adderall.  Sherman eventually won an appeal based on the fact that the sample was transferred to a new cup after the first one was leaking.  The use of a second cup is against testing policy and procedure but in our eyes does not discredit the fact that Sherman tested positive for the banned substance.  Finding a loophole does not make you innocent.  Sherman ended the year with 8 interceptions and 3 force fumbles, his best statistical season in his young career.  Remember how good Shawne Merriman was before his positive drug test? Just saying. Skip Bayless:  Although never accused of plagiarism, his integrity has been question twice during his career.  First, and most famously, when he referenced rumors that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman was gay in his 1994 book Hell-Bent: The Crazy Truth About the “Win or Else” Dallas Cowboys.  Bayless never specifically stated that Aikman was homosexual but quotes from teammates and the coaching staff saying as much – never had evidence to support the claim.  More recently, Bayless was challenged by Jalen Rose in April 2012 episode of First Take on his high school basketball credentials.  Bayless never lied in any of his statements or tweets but definitely did not tell the whole story until he was forced to defend himself. Winner: Bayless Although some of his antics have been questionable, Bayless has never been caught cheating. Education Richard Sherman:  Graduated from Stanford University with a Communications degree.  Stanford is ranked #6 in US News National Universities ranking. Skip Bayless:  History and English major at Vanderbilt University.  Vandy is the #17 ranked school in US News National Universities ranking. Winner: Sherman Friendships Richard Sherman:  In just two years in the NFL, Sherman hasn’t made a lot of friends.  He has had a Twitter war with Revis and taunted Tom Brady on the same social media network with a picture asking “u mad, bro.”  He was also annoying enough to have Washington Redskins lineman Trent Williams slap him in the face after the Wildcard round of this year’s playoffs. Skip Bayless:  It seems that most professional athletes hate Skip.  It seems that most members of the media hate Skip.  To generate all that hate, his words must come with a lot of respect.  How many times did you seen Bayless shake hands on the old First Take set with a member of the media, athlete, or entertainment world ?  Almost everyday.  How many times did you see someone slap him? None. Winner: Bayless Athletics Richard Sherman:  The dude is a cornerback in the NFL and made All-Pro in his second year. Skip Bayless: The dude averaged 1.4 points in his senior year of high school basketball. Winner: Sherman Speaking Ability Richard Sherman:  From a guy with a communications degree from Stanford, he sure does struggle taking a complete thought and putting it into a sentence. Skip Bayless: He may not always know what he is talking about but at least I can follow what he is saying. Winner: Bayless Overall Winner: Skip Bayless I’m ready for Richard Sherman to come back to reality next season and than never be heard from again. Richard Sherman unloads on Skip Bayless: ‘I’m better at life than you’ (Video)

Skip Bayless is easily one of the most hated television personalities in sports history, but Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman could very well hate him more than any athlete in America. We learned that on Thursday, when Sherman unloaded on Bayless and insulted him on multiple occasions during an appearance on ESPN’s “First Take.” Bayless repeatedly tried to bait Sherman...

Skip and Dick: Richard Sherman’s latest egomaniacal rant

Richard Sherman made a name for himself in 2012 with strong play and a stronger mouth. With an impressive season behind him the Seahawks corner has allowed the chatter to grow to new levels. He has a lot to boast about on the field but his off field behaviour of late is nothing to be proud of...

Richard Sherman completely rips Skip Bayless on FIrst Take (Video)

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman appeared on ESPN’s First Take and completely ripped co-host Skip Bayless to his face during today’s show. Sherman took a page out of Terrell Suggs’ book and didn’t hold back at all from telling Bayless what he thinks of him and his opinions. I really give Sherman a lot of credit for staying calm while laying into Bayless. Below...

24 NSFW Black Dudes Going In On Skip Bayless After Richard Sherman Battle

First Take was making waves once again yesterday. If you didn’t do your daily Bleacher Report or Worldstar scan you might have missed the footage, but Seahawks CB Richard Sherman went off on Skip Bayless. Black guys who were tuned in to First Take immediately took to Twitter to either attack or defend their boy Skip. We saw terms we never heard before. Apparently Sherman was ...

Richard Sherman Lets Skip Bayless Have It

I have made it no secret in the past--I do not care for Skip Bayless or that worthless show he participates in each morning called First Take. You can blame the debate format if you want, but the fact of the matter is this guys says things simply to get a rise out of people. He has nothing intelligent or even relevant to say most of the time. He is either controversial or quiet...

ESPN 1st Take: All-Pro Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman vs. Skip Bayless (VIDEO)

Check out video All-Pro Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman confronting Skip Bayless. Apparently, Sherman believes that he’s better that everyone.

Richard Sherman Busting Skip Bayless Is ESPN Theater

I try to ignore Skip Bayless stuff as best I can. I already have to focus overmuch on Peter King. There’s only so much overt media trolling one can consume before being forced to stab their eyeballs, ear drums and frontal lobe. Bayless is also fairly easy to ignore if you really want to. He’s white noise, hardly central to what’s going on in the league. But enough people (actually...

Richard Sherman destroys Skip Bayless on First Take (VIDEO)

You had to see this coming. On Thursday, Seahawks “All-Pro Stanford Graduate” Richard Sherman went on an epic takedown mission of ESPN’s First Take’s resident loudmouth, Skip Bayless.  And it was as glorious as it was awkward to watch. (via gamedayr.com) For years, Bayless has been goading players from the comfort of his First Take pulpit, and with the program becoming more...

Richard Sherman tells Skip Bayless he’s “never accomplished anything in life” and other ether on “First Take”

On ESPN’s “First Take,” Skip Bayless is very good at his job. Stirring up controversy and causing people to react strongly to his “sports opinions.” Thursday on the newly launched afternoon version of the show, Seattle Seahawks corer Richard Sherman appeared. Sherman is a talker and has already begun trash talk for next season by trolling Darelle Revis on Twitter, proclaiming...

Richard Sherman Calls Out Skip Bayless

Few things in sports media are more satisfying than an undressing of ESPN’s resident blowhard Skip Bayless (this appearance by Mark Cuban is the greatest example). Unfortunately, ESPN tailors First Take in a manner to avoid such dress-downs, thus relieving Skip of any awkward confrontations. Skip didn’t escape so easily today, as some First Take producer decided it’d be a good...

ASE’s Picks of the Week: Crumbling Yankees, Richard Sherman’s Pathetic Ploy, and Nike’s New Ad

Photo via Grantland   Traditionally, I don’t turn my full attention toward the New York Yankees until the NBA has awarded its newest champion.  But recently, it’s been difficult to ignore the franchise’s morbid spring training reports — injuries on top of injuries, aging players, free agency distractions. It’s just all bad, and also enough for me to break my own...

Bill Simmons' critique of First Take exposes ESPN's identity crisis

Thursday afternoon, Richard Sherman of the Seahawks blasted Skip Bayless on ESPN's traveshamockery that is First Take.  The clip traveled around the blogosphere as everyone gave an 'atta boy to Sherman for doing what they only wish they could do themselves - stick it to Skip Bayless.  Let's take a look, shall we? While yes, that clip is glorious... it's...

Battle of the Trolls

First Take – “I believe my numbers speak for themselves,” Sherman told Smith. “My tape speaks for itself. My tape is my resume. That is what I leave it up to. You can say whatever you want. Skip can say whatever he wants. But Skip, whenever you refer to me, whenever you speak to me, whenever you address me, address me as ‘All-Pro Stanford graduate’ because those are...
