Found March 23, 2013 on Cleveland Sports 360:
PLAYERS: Kellen Davis
TEAMS: Cleveland Browns
When the Cleveland Browns went out and signed Kellen Davis, I wonder if they knew anything about the last guy the Browns had named Kellen and how much trouble they had with him? The Cleveland Browns signed Kellen Davis who has both size and some god moves. He 2 catches for the Bears last season and 11 catches that resulted in first downs. The thing about the Browns is the fact that Weeden, who the Browns started last season, didn’t even know what a tight end was until week 12 or so. He said they didn’t have any tight ends in Oklahoma and he never threw to them on the Browns for weeks. The Browns sure went out and got themselves a big tight end. Davis is 6’7″ tall and 267 pounds which brings up another problem. If they keep this guy in to block, will Weeden be able to throw the football down field over this guy? I think Weeden may have set a record last season hitting his own linemen with the football. If Davis stands up while blocking or gets stood up by the defense Weeden could hav...

Rob Chudzinski talks about Weeden, Desmond Bryant, and the Browns off-season

Rob Chudzinski went on Pro Football Talk’s “PFT Live” this week and had a few quotable quotes… On the organization in place right now… “From the short amount of time that I’ve been here with Jimmy Haslam, Joe Banner, Mike Lombardi and the rest of the people in the organization, it’s an exciting time. There’s definitely a feel in the air here, in the building. There’s...

The Cleveland Browns have signed tight end Kellen Davis and defensive back Chris Owens to one-year contracts. Originally drafted by the Bears in the fifth round (158th overall) of the 2008 draft, Davis has not missed a game in his career, having played in all 80 regular season contests with 35 starts. Browns owner Jimmy Haslam defines team as “optimistic” in Weeden

The Cleveland Browns are expected to start Brandon Weeden at quarterback for a second season. There is a new coaching staff in Cleveland but with the Browns unable to acquire a free agent quarterback and the draft class looking bleak the Browns will be forced to start Weeden again even after declaring a open competition for the job. No one in Cleveland has declared Weeden the teams...

Two women have filed a lawsuit against Cleveland Browns RB Trent Richardson. Browns sign TE Davis, CB Owens to 1-year deals

The Cleveland Browns have signed free agent tight end Kellen Davis and cornerback Chris Owens to one-year contracts. Both players will give the club depth at two thin positions, and it's possible one or both of them could earn starting jobs. Last week, Browns CEO Joe Banner said the team would not sign anyone bigger than recent additions Paul Kruger or Desmond Bryant, but intended...

Browns spokesman Neal Gulkis refuses to comment on Trent Richardson law suit.

Trent Richardson may have a funny way of celebrating a Browns victory.  According to the court documents filed in the law suit against the Browns running back, he and his entourage were at a club partying after the Browns won on Dec 6th. He then invited the people he is accused of having his girlfriend attracting to his home.  When the women were asked to leave, they slammed the...

Cleveland Browns sign DE Desmond Bryant

I thought Desmond Bryant was an underrated free agent going into the off-season. Bryant played well for the Raiders on 645 snaps last year, taking over as a starter week 10 after Richard Seymour got hurt and grading out as ProFootballFocus’ #7 defensive tackle, excelling as a pass rusher and holding his own against the run. In 2011, he graded out slightly above average on 596 snaps...

NFL Free Agency News: Browns to host Victor Butler

The New Orleans Times-Picayune first reported and Mary Kay Cabot confirmed that the Browns would host former Cowboys linebacker Victor Butler on a free agency visit. Butler is a former 4th round draft pick in 2009. Butler is an outside linebacker and if signed would be the third linebacker the Browns have signed this off-season as they move toward the 3-4 from the 4-3. Victor Butler...

Bucs losing out on Brent Grimes

As the Bucs were reportedly linked to cornerback Brent Grimes, it appears they may lose out on him now. According to Pat Yasinskas of ESPN, Grimes has an offer from another team.  The Cleveland Browns reportedly have an offer for a multiyear deal on the table and that may make them the favorite to land Grimes. The Bucs also might want to consider making a strong offer. While...
