Found September 18, 2012 on The Sports Rocker:
I was watching the Broncos at Falcons game last night and I had a few thoughts. My first thought was I can't wait for Skip Bayless to say the Broncos should have kept Tim Tebow. Among other thoughts, I wondered if Willis McGahee could end up in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Let's examine.

McGahee is 30 years old, and is playing in his ninth season in the NFL. I'm not counting the season after he was drafted, 2003, because he was still recovering from his knee injury in the Fiesta Bowl.

He has 7,543 yards, including this seasons total, for his career.

McGahee is currently 48th in all-time rushing yardage. It's safe to assume he'll move up that list. If he gets 800 yards this season, he'll pass Herschel Walker and Earnest Byner, neither of whom are in the Hall of Fame.

The most recent running backs enshrined in Canton are Emmit Smith, Marshall Faulk, Thurman Thomas, Curtis Martin, and Barry Sanders. Of that group, Thomas has the lowest career total with 12,074 yards. Keep in mind that Thomas played in three Super Bowls. His awards include two First-Team All-Pro selections, 1991 Associated Press NFL MVP, and Offensive Player of the Year, and was selected to five Pro-Bowl teams.

McGahee has one Pro Bowl.

McGahee might amass enough yards for serious consideration. If he can average 800 yards for the next 5 seeasons, that would put him ahead of John Riggins. Riggs was also only a Pro-Bowler one time in his career, but he has a Super Bowl MVP award as well. Riggins had five 1,000 yard rushing seasons, and even sat out the 1980 season due to a contract dispute. Keep in mind McGahee also missed a season, for a different reason of course.

For McGahee to make the Hall, or even be realistically considered, I think he needs have one great season for people to really notice him, make a Pro-Bowl team, and probably crack the 12,000 yard career mark. That would put him in company with Franco Harris, Thurman Thomas, Marcus Allen, and Marshall Faulk. Great company all around. And in today's pass-happy league, that would be quite an accomplishment.

Katie W ◄ Back Next ► Picture 1 of 10 2012 Hottest Denver Broncos Cheerleaders The Denver Broncos Cheerleaders have had many different names throughout the years.   In 1971, the squad debuted as the Bronco Belles and became the Pony Express in 1977.  However, the group disbanded in 1980 after two members posed topless in Playboy...

Broncos had Brock Osweiler warming up on Monday night

Towards the end of Monday night’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons, the Denver Broncos told rookie quarterback Brock Osweiler to warm up. You might be wondering, why would the Broncos even think about benching Peyton Manning? Don’t worry they weren’t going to bench him. “I was going in for the Hail Mary,” Osweiler said. “I’m not sure what the dividing line was as far as...

Manning: Decisions were the problem

Even while he was trying to tamp down expectations, Peyton Manning couldn't have envisioned this scene playing out. Three times, the Broncos quarterback dropped back to pass. Three times, he threw into a seam near the numbers down the right side of the field. Three times, a defensive back followed Manning's eyes, cut over and turned whatever small opening the quarterback...

Replacement ref gets hit during Falcons-Broncos

For those of you who hate NFL replacement refs, this might be the video for you. During tonight's Atlanta Falcons/Denver Broncos game, a mini-fight broke out after a fumble recovery and it appears that one NFL replacement ref took one of the chin. While Atlanta defensive end Ray Edwards was engaged with Broncos defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson in an altercation, Edwards takes...

Demaryius Thomas Is Fan Friendly

I’m a man of the people Juan… Demaryius Thomas is a beast and surprisingly has been the best fantasy WR on the Broncos after all the hype was surrounding Eric Decker this Summer.  Looks like he could be a steal for fantasy owners that grabbed him in the middle rounds of their drafts. Denver Broncos vs. Atlanta Falcons: The Hero and the Zero

Denver had a late second half rally to get with in a one possession game, but at the end of the game, the unspeakable, horrendous, first half play of the Broncos was too much for Manning and the team to overcome.  As always, when the day is over we have to have a winner and a loser and yes, a hero and a zero.Let’s start with the zero today.  It would be easiest to point the finger...

Steve Young on replacement officials: NFL doesn’t care, player safety doesn’t matter

Most of you are probably sick of hearing about the replacement official situation in the NFL by now, but it is only getting worse. The officiating crew lost control of Monday night’s game between the Broncos and Falcons on multiple occasions. Knowshon Moreno fumbled in the first quarter and it was ruled that the Falcons recovered, despite the fact that a Broncos player came out...

Manning falters early, Broncos lose to Falcons

Peyton Manning's second game with the Denver Broncos looked nothing like his first. Manning threw interceptions on Denver's first three possessions, and the Broncos could not recover from the poor start in a 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night. In a 3-hour, 27-minute game marred by questionable decisions from replacement officials and long clock stoppages...

Michael Turner Charged With DUI

Running back Michael Turner has been charged with a DUI following Monday night's win over the Denver Broncos, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Fantasy Spin: Turner was charged with speeding at around 5 a.m. Tuesday morning, and was booked and released on $2,179 bond. Denver Broncos vs. Atlanta Falcons: Five Things We Learned

After a weekend full of exciting football matchups, I was excited to watch the Monday night game featuring the meeting of two undefeated teams, the Denver Broncos visiting the Atlanta Falcons. Ok, the league has only played one week, but Denver was impressive in beating Pittsburgh 31 to 19 at home on September 9 in the Sunday night game while Atlanta used a dominant second half in...
