FLORHAM PARK–It’s Friday, which means that everything that’s been talked about all week, gets talked about some more.
A new wrinkle is that Mike DeVito may not play on Sunday. His knee was injured when he got caught in a pile during Thursday’s practice. He is experiencing what Rex Ryan called soreness, but he’s a game-time decision so it’s obviously a little more than just sore.
If DeVito can’t play, Ryan said Kenrick Ellis will start in his place. Ellis finally saw his first action of the year against the Dolphins and held his own pretty well. He had a couple of plays that showed flashes of why they drafted him – the ability to shed blockers and get upfield.
I spoke to Ellis who said it was great to finally get a chance to play. He also said he still has a very long way to go in his development, but he’s definitely feeling like his game is starting to come together.
Nick Mangold didn’t practice Wednesday or Thursday and was limited on Friday, but it is expected he will play.
