The hot topic of conversation since the Revis trade has come from the draft — when the Bucs selected North Carolina State quarterback Mike Glennon. Quarterback Josh Freeman has already displayed class after the selection by picking up the phone and calling Glennon, welcoming him to the team. So how will the Bucs feel if Freeman can’t handle the distraction of having Glennon on the sidelines?  Disappointed. Mark Dominik was on with 98.7 The Fan’s Justin Pawlowski and talked about how he hopes to see the starting quarterback handle the new kid on the sidelines. Josh is going into his fifth year. He’s played a lot of football and that’s not the way I look at it. I’m not concerned. And quite frankly, if he can’t handle it, that’s disappointing. You know, he’s a professional. And every position there’s a lot of competition. Coach has talked about that at the end of the season, how we’re going to try to increase the competition across the board at every position. Every player on this team knows that. And so I’m not concerned about that. Freeman had his best year last season under a new offense and some new weapons since being drafted in 2009. It would be naive to think the Buccaneers are not expecting better performances out of the 25 year old in 2013. Bringing in a (rookie) quarterback and naming him the backup could rattle Freeman. My guess is he will be just fine. For the entire interview between Mark Dominik and Justin Pawlowski, click here.
