Philly Sports Muse:
Mychal Kendricks being interviewed by 6 ABC's Jamie Apody
California LB Mychal Kendricks was the 2nd pickup by the Eagles in the 2012 draft, the 46th overall selection. By all accounts, he should have an immediate impact on Philadelphia’s defense.
Head coach Andy Reid said the following about Kendricks:
Mychal Kendricks is an outside linebacker from Cal. We took him with our first pick in the second round and we’ll play him at SAM linebacker initially here. He’s played all three [LB positions]. The things you see with him are great athletic ability and speed. He was the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year. He gives you a good opportunity to cover the tight ends.”
Though Reid has said that he wants Kendricks to play at strongside, Kendricks feels he can play well at strong or weakside.
“Yeah, I can play anywhere I need to play. I feel like I’m versatile and I’m going to do what I need to do. It doesn’t matter where I play, I’m up for the job.”
Kendricks met with the Eagles at the...
BEST OF MAXIM
The Philadelphia Eagles’ 2012 offseason has been tremendous so far. Between how they handled free agency and the NFL draft, this could turn out to be the most productive offseason since 2004 when they finally added key components (Terrell Owens and Jevon Kearse) to get the team over the NFC Championship game hump.
To paraphrase the Beach Boys here: I’m picking up good vibrations...
Given the recent news regarding the Philadelphia Eagles’ decision to retire Brian Dawkins’ jersey, Ike Reese of 94 WIP made a statement on Twitter the other day that I thought would be a good subject of debate.
First, here is Reese’s statement:
I wasn’t joking, I think McNabb’s #5 should be retired by the Eagles eventually. Let’s wait awhile though! Time heals all...
The Philadelphia Eagles are having an outstanding 2012 NFL draft. On Day 1, they made a great move by jumping up three slots to snatch DT Fletcher Cox. On Day 2, the Eagles followed up with two good picks and a nice trade.
Notice I said two good picks? But, didn’t they take three players? Yes, they took three players, I’m just not thrilled with the Eagles’ third-round...
Free agent Vince Young is looking for a job after not being re-signed by the Philadelphia Eagles after spending the 2011 season with the team. As far as Young is concerned, it’s because Andy Reid feels he’s too talented to be just a backup.
Bless his heart.
Young has received his first call from a potential suitor via the Buffalo Bills, who Young will work out for on Wednesday...
Here’s an interesting nugget of information. The Atlanta Falcons cap numbers in 2012 included $3 million in cap room credit from Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Mike Vick’s settling of debt with the team.Vick owed the Falcons money from a signing bonus received in 2007.
The credit ends a salary cap grievance by the Falcons against Vick. Atlanta was his biggest creditor in the...
Only a few years ago, the Atlanta Falcons reached an unprecedented feat after a judge held Michael Vick had to repay a portion of his signing bonus, a portion usually considered guaranteed, due to his extracurricular activities.
Many said Michael Vick would never be able to afford to pay back the $6.5 million, but our former disappointment has paid off his creditors, followed by...
The NFL career of former Eagles/Broncos safety Brian Dawkins came to an end nearly a week ago.
Since hanging up his cleats and emotive screams, Dawkins has been busy. He retired as an Eagle on Saturday and held his farewell press conference with many ex-teammates in attendance including Donovan McNabb.
Hours later, Dawkins threw out the first pitch prior to a Phillies 5-2 win over...
