With only one more day until the Jaguars hold their first scrimmage of training camp, there is plenty to be pleased with in terms of the team and the progress made by head coach Gus Bradley and his staff. But as always, there is still more improvements to be made. The hot Florida sun has been almost as relentless as the first-year head coach and his approach to the game, the team and building a winning formula. There are still questions to be answered and hopefully Saturday night will help give everyone some answers.* Can Blaine Gabbert or Chad Henne separate themselves from the pack? Gabbert has been working slowly following his ankle injury on Monday. He has looked better in his delivery and his follow through, however. The injury has not prevented him from taking part in practice, but it has also allowed Henne to take more reps and give both Mike Kafka and Adam Scott more reps in practice. But Gabbert did progress more on Thursday especially in seven-on-seven drills. Both of Gabbert’s ankles were taped for the practice.* The running backs. While Maurice Jones-Drew has looked good in the work he has done on the field, the backup Justin Forsett sprained a toe in practice.According to the Florida Times-Union article, the injury required Forsett to wear a walking boot after practice.“I got tackled and then landed on and my foot was already planted,” Forsett said. “I got up, ran to the next play and I couldn’t really push off on it like I wanted to so I decided to get out of there before I made it worse.”* Cecil Shorts continues to be the talk of camp. The third-year receiver is still making it look like child’s play on the practice field. Other receivers like Ace Sanders are using the veteran’s leadership to help them pick up their game.* Denard Robinson has been taken off return duties while he works on fundamentals. While the “do everything” back was penciled in as the team’s third running back, a series of fumbles and dropped passes has caused the rookie from Michigan to attend “Fundamentals 101” where he is learning to hold onto the ball and secure it firmly.Robinson and other rookies have been in training camp early every morning working on catching the football.* Thursday was the second day in a row the team was in full pads.
