Jason Babin has been claimed off waivers by the Jacksonville Jaguars, a source close to Babin told Ian Rapoport of NFL.com. A total of eight teams placed a claim on the 32-year-old defensive end, according to Rapoport.
As Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com notes, the next question becomes whether “Babin will make noise about being involuntarily shipped to a bad team which now holds his rights through 2015″ and was second on the priority list with a record of 2-9.
In nine seasons, the former 2004 first-round pick (27th overall by the Houston Texans out of Western Michigan) has appeared in 109 games with 69 starts and racked up a total of 296 tackles, 53.5 sacks, nine tipped passes and nine forced fumbles.
