Found May 30, 2012 on Football Nation:
It may surprise some NFL fans to find out that Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew led the league in rushing in 2011 with 1,606 yards along with a league leading 343 carries. He also remained productive as a pas receiver with 43 receptions for 373 yards, and scored 11 total touchdowns (eight rushing). He clearly was the centerpiece of a Jacksonville offense that had little else going for it last season. Jones-Drew has not attended the team's OTAs up to this point, which is nothing new as he has traditionally skipped parts of the voluntary offseason program in favor of working out on his own at home in California. But this time there is speculation his absence is attached to a desire for a contract extension, and the organization is acknowledging that the contract issue is playing a role in his absence. Jones-Drew has two years left on his contract, and is due to make a combined $9.4 million over that time. He will be 29 years old when the contract ends, and ...

Jaguars sign No. 2 pick DE Branch

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed 2012 second-round draft pick Andre Branch, the 38th overall pick in April. The defensive end becomes the first of the team's six draft picks to sign a contract. Branch played for four years at Clemson, where he made 27 starts. He had 17 1-2 sacks, 33 1-2 tackles for loss and 197 overall tackles in his career. He's the first player from...

Recap of yesterday's lease scare with the Jaguars

Yesterday, the media became aware that the City of Jacksonville had notified the Jaguars that they were in default of their lease, and the termination process had been put in motion. To say the least, that's a dire piece of news for a team that is expected to move by many in the media, and a short-lived firestorm began. The reason the news was so huge is very simple. The Jaguars...

Jacksonville to Jaguars: Your lease is to be terminated

Shad Khan ((ht: Really? With all the tumult and rumors that the Jacksonville Jaguars might leave the city and the city terminates their lease with the team? Huh? Jaguars owner Shad Khan is asking the same question tonight after finding out in the Newspaper that the city has found his team in default of their lease and said lease is going to be terminated...

First shots fired in Jaguars’ inevitable exit from Jacksonville

HELLO LOS ANGELES!!!  ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL??? * Crickets * Oh right, nobody in LA cares about professional football.  Doesn’t matter.  If the NFL doesn’t expedite this whole “putting football back in LA” thing, the Jaguars might just have to take matters into their own hands and move from one pro football apathetic [...]

Does Jacksonville gaffe push Jags to Los Angeles?

Let's play a game. Let's pretend that you are Shahid Khan. Seven months ago, you spent $760M to purchase the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars. The NFL team that plays in the league's 3rd smallest market. The team that has had so many issues avoiding blacked out home games that former players and Jacksonville mayor Alvin Brown, himself, have been involved in door-to...

Jags’ new practice facility is food court-y

With Tropical Storm Beryl making everything in Jacksonville all wet and mushy, the Jaguars were forced to conduct some indoor practices. Being the Jaguars, they don’t have a fancy indoor practice facility (or poles to hold up the tarps they use to cover their upper deck seats, or even a gym membership), so they packed up their **** and practiced on the club level at GenericBank...

Jaguars sign sixth-rounder Mike Harris

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed sixth-round cornerback Mike Harris to a four-year, $2.216 million contract. The deal includes base salaries of $390,000, $480,000, $570,000 and $660,000. Harris played collegiately at Florida State.

One-on-One With Luke Del Rio

Luke Del Rio spoke with Thursday afternoon about his commitment to Oklahoma State. The 6-2, 190-pound quarterback becomes the eighth commitment in the class of 2013. Here is our question-and-answer session with the the son of Jack Del Rio, the defensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos and former head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Jaguars are optimistic -- and they should be

I wrote yesterday about the optimism that's running rampant through the NFL at this time of the year, especially inside the Dolphins' organization. Landing HBO's Hard Knocks series should provide the team with considerable exposure as they try to prove their critics wrong. For the first time in a long time, the Dolphins are showing genuine signs of optimism. There'...

Three-horse race for Ravens’ back-up running back spot

It’ll be a three-horse race to see who will back-up Pro Bowl running back Ray Rice this season. At some point, Rice will return to running with the Ravens’ first-team offense. But until he does, rookie Bernard Pierce and second-year backs Anthony Allen and Damian Berry have an opportunity to make their case as to [...]

Jacksonville Jaguars Offense to Increase in Complexity

Balance: Jaguars WR Lee Evans was a product under Head Coach Mike Mularkey in Buffalo between 2004-2005 where he had 9 touchdowns as a Bill. As a veteran, he knows the complexity of his offense that is currently being installed in Jacksonville's OTAs. Mularkey is known to have a balanced attack between run-pass, and wide receivers in particular can accumulate solid numbers in...
