The Jacksonville Jaguars are now in phase two of their season. After the extra week off to prepare for Tennessee and the team needing a win as badly as any team in the NFL, the team travels this weekend in hopes of starting the second part of the 2013 season on the right foot. That starts with the offensive line and the commitment to making the defense better. Those two things, which we have talked about at length over the past few weeks, will open doors to the running game and stopping opponents from enforcing free will on this franchise.John Oehser, the senior writer for Jaguars.com, has a simple solution for this franchise when it comes to playing this week – just play better.“The Jaguars as a whole did not play well the last two games before the bye. That bothered the players and coaches a lot. The Jaguars aren’t talented enough right now to win if they don’t play well. If they do play well, there are winnable games down the stretch. But win or lose, they just need to play better.”The formula is simple and direct and easy enough to follow – but can a team that seems to have lost part of its will continue to follow those tenants and be successful? The team must also be concerned with injuries – especially to the offensive line. Will Rackley will be a game time decision, said head coach Gus Bradley. Rackley is needed to play better on the interior if the team is going to establish any kind of running attack on Sunday. On the other side of the ball, the team must make tackles. They must stand tall in the middle of the defense and control the line of scrimmage.Chris Johnson will be staring this team in the face on Sunday – a running back who some of his best games against the Jaguars.“When the Titans are on offense, they believe they can out-physical you. They’ve been right about that a lot this season, and that’s a big reason they have been able to win four games. There’s no question what they will try to do, and they’ll keep trying to do it the entire game. Be ready for it. Not every game is about toughness in the NFL anymore. For the Jaguars’ defense, this one will be,” Oehser said. The Jaguars may not have the horses to stay with Tennessee throughout the game, but as Will Blackmon stated, “If you’re going to lose, lose like you did against Denver.”
