After trading the team’s left tackle, which started rumors that other high priced players may be let go or traded for draft picks, Jaguars general manager David Caldwell put the question to rest - he is not looking to shop any other veteran players.According to bigcatcountry.com, “There had been some speculation that players like Maurice Jones-Drew, Paul Posluszny and a few others could be shipped off at the right price, but Caldwell told reporters that he talked to those players and told them they wouldn't be going anywhere anytime soon.”This means the players under contract for now will remain so, but a player like Jones-Drew, who is in the final year of his current deal, will be evaluated when the season ends. The trade of Eugene Monroe on Tuesday did not shock as many as it sent out shockwaves that the team (0-4) was in the middle of getting rid of high-priced players for draft picks to help retool the franchise. When asked about it on Wednesday the first-year general manager told the media, “No, absolutely not.”The move on Tuesday was also part of another move by the team that saw rookie first round tackle, Luke Joeckel move to the left side, his more natural position. The meeting with the press also allowed Caldwell to lay to rest rumors the team was still interested in Tim Tebow. The story online stated, “Rumors and reports surfaced on Wednesday that the Jaguars would be signing him and/or giving him a tryout, but the team quickly said those reports had no truth whatsoever to them.”The Jaguars may not be actively trying to release of trade players, but Caldwell did say the team is willing to any other organization that calls them to inquire about a player.
