When the Jacksonville Jaguars drafted Michigan’s Denard Robinson in the 5th round of this year’s draft it was officially as a running back, even though the multi-positional Robinson lined up at receiver and quarterback during his tenure with the Wolverines. The Jags still aren’t sure how they’ll use the über speedy player nicknamed “Shoelace,” or at what position, so they went and came up with a brand new roster designation—OW, presumably for Offensive Weapon—which they listed Robinson as on their official website. Just call him Slash 2.0. What this means is that Robinson can, and probably will, line up at every offensive position at one time or another for the Jaguars, save for offensive lineman, a smart move by Jacksonville because of the aforementioned speed and shiftiness of Robinson, especially if he can get into open space with the football, much like a C.J. Spiller or Reggie Bush. The question now is how much playing time the UM product will get seeing that he is a rookie without a defined position? Taking those factors into consideration, there shouldn’t be much of a problem for Robinson to see the field when you consider how inept and absolutely putrid the Jaguars offense has been these past few seasons.   Need NFL Tickets?
