The Jacksonville Jaguars' starting unit faded after a fast start. The New York Giants were the opposite, scoring on four consecutive series after being stopped on their opening drive.
Eli Manning only played two series and produced three points before taking the rest of the night off in the Giants' 32-21 loss in both teams' preseason opener. New York (No. 3 in the AP Pro32) built a 17-point first half lead, but Jacksonville (No. 31 in the AP Pro32) responded with an 18-point second half to earn the victory.
Manning was 4 of 8 for 60 yards and a passer rating of 75.0. The Giants were forced to punt in their first series, but Manning directed a drive into the red zone on the next series before settling for a field goal.
Jacksonville quarterback Blaine Gabbert was sharp in directing an 89-yard touchdown drive in 13 plays on the Jaguars' first series. But that was the extent of his success as the next two drives were halted by lost fumbles, the second one by Gabbert.

WR Victor Cruz
Victor Cruz would technically be a restricted free agent next offseason, so they could slap a 1st round tender on him and continue to negotiate with him or force him to play out the 2013 season on the tender. However, the Giants may want to avoid a Mike Wallace situation, especially if Cruz continues to produce like he did in 2011 (82 catches for 1536 yards and 9 touchdowns...
During the New York Giants' 32-31 preseason loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Friday night, tight end Martellus Bennett was one of the many payers who flashed. The fifth-year veteran hauled in three passes (on three targets) for 27 yards and a touchdown, proving that he's got more to offer the team than just his superb blocking ability. However, after the game Bennett...
According to a source of ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew could hold until late August or into September.
“Maurice Jones-Drew is no closer to returning to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the running back’s holdout is expected to last until the end of the month, and potentially into September, a source familiar with the...
The Jaguars really don't anticipate holdout tailback Maurice Jones-Drew reporting to camp anytime soon. Things could change with one phone call, of course, but Jacksonville executives seem to be holding firm to their stance that they won't revisit a contract that has two seasons remaining on it. At least, not until MLD gets into camp. There's even been a bit of...

The Giants had two fumbled punt returns in a 32-31 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Friday.
Both came inside the 10-yard line and led to 10 points by the Jaguars. Jayron Hosley fumbled the first punt, dropping the kick at the 2-yard line with...
Far from a lock to make the roster, Jaguars wide receiver Mike Thomas did his best to earn his spot on Friday night.

Giants rookie RB has blazing speed that will be utilized by the Giants offense quite a bit from the sounds of it. Giants RB coach has already said that the runner will be an “integral part of what we do this year.”
“He is going to be a contributor that they will at least have to try to defend because he does have that exceptional kind of speed...

New York Giants: Questionable Running Game
The Giants ranked 32nd (last in the league) in run production last season. Part of that was due to Pro Bowler Amhad Bradshaw’s foot injury, which caused him to miss four games. Their passing game actually improved...
