Found August 24, 2013 on This Given Sunday:
Tonight the Jacksonville Jaguars are hosting the offense they hope to emulate. Running back Maurice Jones-Drew said this week that the Jaguars hope to run 85 offensive plays per game. Considering the team’s offensive woes, we find that mark highly unachievable, but if the Jaguars hope to accomplish it, they better have their notebooks out while the visiting Eagles are on the field. Last week, while the Jaguars’ starters were still on the field, the team didn’t show that they can at least run a high-tempo offense to some extent. With Blaine Gabbert in as quarterback, the Jaguars were able to move the ball through short passes with runs after the catch. Tonight will be the team’s second true test running such an offense, although Blaine Gabbert won’t be playing. Backup Chad Henne will be in charge of the offense. The Eagles, by contrast, may get a sense of how difficult their offense can be to both operate and defend. There’s a great chance the Jaguars won’t be able to orchestrate...

Vick plans to run more in 2013: 'I will be a threat'

Now that the starting job is his, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is excited about what he'll be able to do in head coach Kelly's uptempo offense that seems perfectly suited for his skill set. "I will be a threat," Vick said.

Veteran Jeremy Cain among several released by Jaguars

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars have released veteran long snapper Jeremy Cain, who played in every game the last four seasons. The Jaguars went with undrafted rookie long snapper Carson Tinker, a move that will save the club more than 500,000 against the salary cap. Jacksonville also placed rookie cornerback Jeremy Harris, a seventh-round draft pick, on injured...

Blackmon back from suspended list

The Jacksonville Jaguars have activated receiver Justin Blackmon from the reserve/suspended list and waived guard Jacques McClendon. Blackmon did not count against the team's 53-man roster while he was suspended the first four games for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. The Jaguars made the moves Saturday. Blackmon had 64 receptions for 865 yards last season...

Jaguars' tackle Luke Joeckel could play against Eagles

The Jacksonville Jaguars' rookie offensive tackle Luke Joeckel suffered a hip flexor on Aug. 3 during the team's intra-squad scrimmage. The second-overall pick returned to practice the following week, but when the injury flared up in the team's preseason opener against the Miami Dolphins, Joeckel was forced to sit out for a couple of weeks. The tough first-round rookie...

Players Cut by Jacksonville Jaguars Honored In an In Memoriam Video

A presumably bored fan of the Jacksonville Jaguars has done something great, compiling a montage of photos of recently cut Jags players and setting it to Sarah McLachlan’s “I Will Remember You”.  It’s a pretty funny concept and it’s only made funnier by the fact that it’s the Jacksonville Jaguars, a team that almost nobody would ever shed a tear over. The post Players...

In loss to Eagles, Chad Henne shows he's no threat at QB

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- After one drive Saturday night, Chad Henne looked ready to re-open the open competition at quarterback that Jacksonville Jaguars coach Gus Bradley had declared closed for now earlier in the week. But that terrific first impression gave way to reality as it became clear that Henne's best shot at unseating Blaine Gabbert when the Jaguars start playing for...
