Lions Blog:
When the Lions released defensive end Jared DeVries last month, team president Tom Lewand said they hoped to bring him back. But DeVries might end up moving on now.
The Lions have signed free agent Kyle Vanden Bosch, and the Jaguars have been in contact with DeVries, according to Jacksonville.com.
DeVries, a third-round pick in 1999, was the Lions' longest-tenured player after kicker Jason Hanson. He's 33 and coming off an Achilles injury that cost him the entire 2009 season. The Lions were unsure about his recovery and didn't want to pay him an upcoming $400,000 roster bonus.
Multiple sources indicated to Jacksonville.com that DeVries would be one of the Jaguars' likely targets if they were unable to re-sign veteran Reggie Hayward, who hit the market Friday.
