The Jaguars are getting back to full strength. The days toward the regular season are getting shorter. After cutting veterans Mohamed Massaquoi and Jason Spitz yesterday, the team welcomed back Cecil Shorts and Russell Allen from injury. Both are expected to be starters for the team when the season starts on September 8.Shorts will start on Saturday against the Eagles, according to team officials (jaguars.com).“He looked good,” head coach Gus Bradley said of Shorts. The issue with Shorts is he wanted to go at full speed Tuesday like he had been during training camp before the calf injury. Bradley said the team will be monitoring his play and production this week. This will also be the first time Shorts and Justin Blackmon are on the field in a preseason game together this year. The team also had Blaine Gabbert out on the sidelines in full gear as if he was going to practice. It was learned that Gabbert suffered a hairline fracture of his throwing hand and although he was named the starter on Monday by Bradley, he will not play the final two preseason games.Chad Henne will be taking those reps.In other camp notes…The team did not have Luke Joeckel back on the practice field yet. The rookie is still nursing a hip flexor and is listed as day-to-day.Jordan Todman did practice on Tuesday but was limited because of a hamstring issue. Kevin  Rutland was also limited in practice. At his press conference following practice, Bradley stressed there were still some things this team needed to work on, most in preparation for the home game against Philadelphia Saturday night. He stated the importance of the team looking forward to the regular season, but there is still heavy competition for the 53 roster spots on the squad, which provides a great opportunity for his players.
