Jaguars OC Press Taylor reveals what to expect from Buccaneers' defense
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Jacksonville Jaguars have one of the easiest remaining schedules left in the NFL, but that does not mean that this upcoming game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be that. The team, just a few hours south of Jacksonville, is currently red-hot. Just look at their film against the Green Bay Packers if you need any further clarification of that statement.

Baker Mayfield is playing out of his mind and is starting to catch everyone's eyes. But the one thing not getting talked about as much has to be the Buccaneers' defense. Sure, it's not as good as it was back when they won the Super Bowl, but it's still very good.

Preparing for their defense will almost be like looking in the mirror. Their defense uses a ton of pressure, just like the Jaguars' defense tends to do. Their best bet is to treat it exactly like practice, just like Doug Pederson often says. The Buccaneers' defense certainly isn't any slouch.

"Pressure. The same thing you see with our defense," offensive coordinator Press Taylor told reporters on Thursday. "There's five on the line, there's five guys pressuring a lot of times. Depending on where that fifth guy is coming from or where the other two are coming from, guys are dropping out. There's a lot of loaded boxes.

"They're really good against the run; this defense, particularly, has been really good for a pretty long time since Coach Bowles has been there. They're doing a good job crowding the line, stopping the run, making things hard, identifying pressure, picking up pressure. They do a really good job; it's not an easy task."

The biggest difference between the two defenses, though, is the fact that the Buccaneers send a ton of pressure and get to the quarterback more. They have 40 sacks in the year, which is the eighth-most in the NFL, whereas the Jaguars have 30 sacks in the year and are near the bottom of the league.

The Jaguars have allowed one more sack than the Buccaneers this season, on both teams are pretty much equally as susceptible to following victim to that high-pressure rate. The Jaguars can win this game on Sunday, but it won't be easy. My best advice is to practice how you play, play how you practice. Get rid of the pre-snap stuff Pederson has been preaching, and you will be alright.
