Tim Tebow’s next move appears no clearer following the news that the Jacksonville Jaguars will not be in the running to bring in the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner, despite the franchise being heavily linked with the unwanted Jets’ quarterback.
While Jacksonville owner, Shad Khan, has made no secret of his desire to see the former University of Florida star pull on a Jaguars jersey, general manager, David Caldwell, has insisted that he is looking at other options in his hunt to bring in a new quarterback.
”It’s not my decision,” Khan said. ”I want to do whatever to help this team win. Who the players are is really the general manager and coaches’ […] decision. It’s really not my decision.’
”I’m telling them to take a look at Tebow and they’re saying, `We’re going to go in a different direction. That’s the difference.”
There’s no doubt that Khan’s eagerness to bring in Tebow is down as much to his business side as it is to his fan side, knowing that the 25-year old’s brand is still a draw for fans betting NFL, despite the quarterback coming off the back of a complete write off of a season in New York.
It was widely expected that the left-hander would sign for the Jaguars in the 2010 draft because former general manager, Gene Smith, did not view him as a franchise quarterback. Whether or not that view is true is still the source for plenty of debate in the NFL betting news, but it still looks as though Tebow will not be a Jaguars player next season.
A season of inactivity will have taken its toll on Tebow, be it mentally or physically, but that is not to say that the quarterback does not have something to bring to an NFL offence; which team that is - if any - is still yet to be decided.
