On Thursday, the Jacksonville Jaguars decided to part ways with defensive lineman and former 5-round draft pick Austen Lane, releasing him after three years with the team. Also let go was defensive back Trey Wilson, a undrafted DB out of Vanderbilt.
To fill those two open roster spots, the Jags signed punter Ken Parrish and cornerback Lionel Smith.
Parrish has been around the block since entering the league in 2008. He played for the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets and the Atlanta Falcons, but never actually punted in an actual game. Smith, undrafted out of Texas A&M in his second year, saw time on both the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions' rosters. Detorit cut him just last week after spending all of last season on the practice squad.
