The Jacksonville Jaguars have released veteran defensive end Jeremy Mincey, who was inactive for two games last month after showing up late to a team meeting. Coach Gus Bradley said Mincey needed to get his priorities straight and gave him another chance. Mincey returned to the rotation last week against Houston and played 36 snaps. It's unclear what happened to prompt his release Friday. Mincey signed a four-year, $20 million contract in 2012, with $9 million guaranteed. He earned nearly $11 million in the first two years of the deal. His base salary would have doubled to $4 million in 2014, so it was unlikely Mincey would have stuck around anyway. He joined the Jaguars in 2006, playing in 64 games with 41 starts. --- AP NFL website:

Jaguars release Jeremy Mincey for being late

The Jacksonville Jaguars have had their fill of Jeremy Mincey being late. After the defensive end was late for a meeting he was let go on Friday. Jaguars give up on Jeremy Mincey, again

So much for making the most of a second chance. The Jaguars released defensive end Jeremy Mincey Friday, a transaction that in and of itself wouldn’t attract much notice. But Mincey was effectively on double-secret probation after missing a meeting and being left home from a trip to Houston, so it’s easy to wonder whether he had another distraction crop up. Mincey said the...

In a somewhat surprising move, the Jacksonville Jaguars announced the release of DE Jeremy Mincey on Friday. Mincey, 30, signed a four-year contract worth $20 million that included $9 million guaranteed back in 2012, so he was just in year two of that deal. He had base salaries of $4.475 million and $4.9 million remaining on his contract. With the release of Mincey, the Jaguars...
