It seems the Jaguars go through a rebuilding effort annually and this year will be no different. Owner Shad Kahn has started his evaluation of the Jacksonville Jaguars and obviously he didn’t see much good. Kahn has started the rebuilding process with the expected firing of GM Geno Smith according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Head Coach Mike Mularkey’s future will be determined by whoever succeeds Smith, which usually isn’t a good sign as GM’s like to bring in their guys and start fresh. Schefter reports that Cardinals director of player personnel Jason Licht and 49ers director of player personnel Tom Gamble are the top candidates to replace Smith. var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});

Justin Blackmon Closes Out Solid Campaign with Jaguars

Jaguars rookie Justin Blackmon was the first receiver off the board in the 2012 NFL Draft, and he'll also finish first in receiving yardage among rookies this season with 865. Blackmon had 79 yards and a touchdown on six catches Sunday.Fantasy Spin:Blackmon barely squeaked by third-rounder T.Y. Hilton (861). Blackmon had 615 of his 865 yards in the final seven games after Chad...

Keith Toston Slated To Start For Jacksonville

Updating an earlier note, Keith Toston will get the start at running back for Jacksonville Sunday against Tennessee. Richard Murphy had originally been slated to start after Montell Owens tweaked his knee in pregame warmups.Fantasy Spin:Wait, who? Toston hasn't played in a game since he was with the Rams back in 2010. No good can come from the Jaguars' backfield situation...

Gene Smith let go in Jacksonville

The Jacksonville Jaguars have officially moved on from general manager Gene Smith. Jags owner Shahid Khan announced that the team is parting ways with general manager Gene Smith. — Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) December 31, 2012 I guess it didn’t take long for drafting a punter in the third round of last year’s draft to catch up with Smith.  Drafting Blaine Gabbert in 2011...

Jaguars fire GM Gene Smith after 4 seasons

The Jacksonville Jaguars have fired general manager Gene Smith after four disappointing seasons, including the worst year in franchise history. Owner Shad Khan made the announcement Monday. Coach Mike Mularkey could be next. Khan is waiting to decide Mularkey's fate until he hires a new general manager, which could happen this week. Mularkey failed to make the Jaguars (2-14...

Tim Tebow to Jacksonville might be a stretch

Even with a recent report that Jets quarterback Tim Tebow could end up with the Jacksonville Jaguars next season,  Arthur Arkush of ProFootballWeekly.com says it’s probably a stretch to believe that he’ll be a Jaguar in 2013. After doing a little digging, we hear that categorizing his arrival in Jacksonville after the season as imminent is a major stretch. Khan’s prior interest...

Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans: Week 17 NFL Pick

Jacksonville Jaguars (2-13) at Tennessee Titans (5-10) Aside from this being a divisional matchup, this is a completely meaningless game for these two teams. Both are out of the playoffs by a long shot. I have a rule against making significant plays on completely meaningless games. If the teams might not care about a game, I shouldn’t either. There’s just no way to predict what...

Jaguars-Titans preview thoughts, gameday thread

I didn't do Enemy Intelligence this week. Given the nature of Week 17 and two teams going absolutely nowhere, my only prediction is that if one team cares, it will win the game. If neither team cares or, somehow, some way, both teams care, the Titans are slightly better than the Jaguars and playing at home. The line of TEN -4 looks reasonable to me, but anything from a close...
