Jaguars trade with Bucs to draft Utah LB Devin Lloyd

The Jacksonville Jaguars drafted Utah linebacker Devin Lloyd with the No. 27 pick, adding a piece to their rebuilding secondary.

The Jaguars moved up from pick No. 33 to No. 27 in a trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to choose Lloyd. Jacksonville traded its second-round choice (33), fourth-round pick (106), and a sixth-round pick (108) to the Buccaneers for the No. 27 selection.

The Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year finished last season with 111 tackles, seven sacks, and four interceptions in 14 games, helping lead Utah to the Pac-12 title. A 2021 consensus All-American, Lloyd led the Pac-12 last season in solo tackles (66) and tackles for loss (22).

After playing three games as a freshman, Lloyd flourished as a sophomore, finishing with 91 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and an interception in 14 games. Lloyd played five games in 2020, posting 48 tackles and two sacks.

Lloyd compiled 256 tackles, 15.5 sacks, and five interceptions in four seasons at Utah.

Lloyd was the second linebacker drafted in the first round. Green Bay drafted Georgia linebacker Quay Walker with the No. 22 pick.
