Jaguars vs. Titans: Tyson Campbell 'Probably a Long-Shot' to Play
USA TODAY Sports

After the Jacksonville Jaguars entered last week's game vs. the San Francisco 49ers with a fully healthy defensive depth chart for the first time this season, the reinforcements have already been called for Week 11.

Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said starting cornerback Tyson Campbell is "probably a long-shot" to play this weekend vs. the Tennessee Titans after he reaggravated a hamstring injury vs. the San Francisco 49ers.

Campbell first sustained the injury in Week 6 and would go on to miss the next two games. Campbell returned in his starting role last week, but left during the game with the injury.

With Campbell appearing unlikely to play vs. the Titans, the Jaguars will lean on one of their 2022 Day 3 picks to replace him in second-year cornerbacks Montaric Brown and Gregory Junior.

Brown started in Campbell's place in Weeks 7 and 8 while Junior was on injured reserve. Junior took Campbell's place in the defense last week while Brown was a healthy scratch.

“It’s good for him, it’s good for Montaric [Brown], it’s a great opportunity for him. I think both of those guys now have played, Greg last week had a chance to go in for Tyson [Campbell] and Montaric coming back in and getting another opportunity," Pederson said.

"So, a lot of confidence with those two guys as they keep growing with the defense. As your backup guys play more, it gives you a little more depth, a little more confidence, not only us in them, but them in their preparation to play.”
