Jake Ferguson's postgame message indicates last thing Cowboys must prove
Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson is quickly becoming a fan favorite. But after his team's win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 14, it was him who was thanking the fans.

"Cowboys Nation, it was packed today, you felt that energy today," Ferguson told reporters after the game.

Ferguson caught five passes for 72 yards in front of 93,752 fans, the attendance announced at AT&T Stadium on Sunday night. With tickets as high as five thousand dollars, Cowboys Nation sure earned a shoutout postgame.

However, Ferguson, just like Dak Prescott warned us about last week, isn't exactly satisfied. While he understands the importance of home field advantage, he also seems to know the Cowboys have one more thing left to prove.

"We're in our home, we're in our own beds which is a little bit better of a feeling," Ferguson added. "But at the same time we just gotta keep getting better because we are going to end up having some away games at some point."

The Cowboys are 7-0 at home and 3-3 on the road. Little by little, the team has proven the world wrong. Before Sunday night, Dallas' biggest critics consistently pointed out that they were only beating teams with losing records.

That is no longer a usable argument, considering the team brought down the 10-2 Eagles, who entered the game with the No. 1 seed of the NFC. Winning at home might be the last resource of those who want to demerit the Cowboys any way they know how.

The good news is the Cowboys have a chance to nip those criticisms in the bud. Next up, they've got a road trip to Buffalo to play the Bills and later one to Miami to face the Dolphins.

These will be no easy opponents and the Cowboys will be put in uncomfortable spots in playoff-like atmospheres. If they check that box too before the playoffs, there's no doubt Dallas can go on a Super Bowl run.
