In the end of April we were told by GM John Schneider that Seahawks' first-round pick in the 2011 NFL draft, T James Carpenter would likely not be ready for 2012 training camp.

Schneider said the knee injury Carpenter suffered in November during practice was “a really bad injury” and his recovery has been slow.

Quote: “That would be overly optimistic, I would think,” Schneider said back in April of his availability for the start of training camp.

“I would personally guard against it. Try and do the right thing by him.” Now we're finding out per an article on the National Football Post this week...

Quote: *A decent chance exists that Seahawks’ 2011 first round pick James Carpenter will not play in 2012 because his knee was torn up so severely last season. Carpenter has had a hard time mentally with the recovery process, but had a recent spurt in which he made some good progress. The Seahawks have protected themselves at the right tackle position by re-signing Breno Giacomini and Paul McQuistan and adding free agent Frank Omiyale.

In 2011/12 the right line of the Seahawks offensive line was decimated. Starting RG John Moffitt, who was the team’s 3rd round draft pick in 2011 was lost for the season after suffering a knee injury in the win over Baltimore.

Throw in the Carpenter ACL tear during pass-rush drills and the 3rd week of November was NOT a good one for Seattle.

Giacomini, McQuistan, and Omiyale could be three names you hear a lot of in 2012 if the big right tackle can't make it back in time.

In my opinion seeing thru all the smokescreens and best guess reporting he'll start the year on the PUP, and be back for Week 6 or week 7.
