I was asked via email what a restructure would look like for Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison if another year was added onto his contract this week. Harrison's agent, Bill Parise, said initially that his client wasn't open to taking a pay cut, but that they were open to doing a restructure. The two sides were reportedly talking again on Tuesday, but word has yet to surface as to which way the talks are heading as far as a possible pay cut or restructure goes. Harrison is set to earn a base salary in 2013 of $6.57 million. His cap number, mind you, is scheduled to be $10.035 million. Read more [...]

Parise reportedly met with...

Harrison, who will be 35 in two months, is scheduled to make salaries of $6.57 million this season and $7.575 million in 2014 in the final two years of his contract. Parise did not say...

Steelers WR Mike Wallace Sitting Pretty Monday Evening After Recent Moves

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Mike Wallace has to be feeling pretty good Monday evening thanks to some of the things that transpired around the NFL since Friday. For starters, the Steelers were unable to place the franchise tag on Wallace, as expected, and now he is assured to hit the free agent market next Tuesday evening. In addition to that, the Kansas City Chiefs have reportedly...

Steelers rumors: Pittsburgh, James Harrison discussing contract

The Pittsburgh Steelers are a veteran team facing salary cap issues this offseason. In order to help ease their financial burden for 2013, the team has worked at restructuring deals with several veteran players. Linebacker James Harrison is a candidate for a reworked deal, but he and the Steelers have yet to reach an agreement. Still, Harrison’s agent Bill Parise told reporters...

It’s Time for the Steelers to Add Playmakers

This is something I really wanted to wait and write a week or so heading into the draft, but I just need to get it off my chest. Obviously much of what I say here can be severely altered in the next few weeks due to off-season moves and rookie pro days, but that really isn’t going to change my thinking too much. The Pittsburgh Steelers need playmakers and they can’t wait for...

Grading the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Round-by-Round Value in the 2011 NFL Draft

The Pittsburgh Steelers will need some help from their 2011 NFL Draft class if they want to avoid a second straight season that ends in December. It will be a few years before the value grade for this draft is set in stone. Six of the seven players chosen are still with the Steelers. If some of these players tap their upside, this draft could help the Steelers regain their status...

Former Steelers LB James Farrior Makes Top 20 List Of Best Free Agent Signings In NFL History

Jim Reineking of NFL.com posted a photo essay on Wednesday of his top 20 free-agent signings in NFL history. I was a little hesitant to even flip through it for fear that he would not include Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Farrior in his list. Surprisingly, he did. Reineking ranked Farrior 14th overall, which is more than fair, in my opinion. Farrior remains the best free...

What Does William Gay Back in Pittsburgh Mean?

Former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback William Gay is going to sign a deal with the Steelers when free agency opens up next week according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Gay played in Arizona last year after signing a two-year deal with the Cards this time last year. He was released by them just this past week. Speculation ramped up immediately after Gay tweeted that he was “glad...

Here’s the Pittsburgh Steelers Biggest Issue from the 2012 Season

The Pittsburgh Steelers finished the 2012 season with an unimpressive 8-8 record. For the Steelers that’s an uncharacteristically bad season based on recent performances. It’s tied for their worst record since 2003 and has sparked plenty of talk about what went wrong with the 2012 Steelers. Just the other day I wrote about what the Steelers need to do to fix their run game because...

Steelers and James Harrison working at restructuring contract

Five-time Pro Bowl linebacker James Harrison wants to stay with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He'd also prefer not to take a pay cut. His agent, Bill Parise, won't tell you if the Steelers want Harrison to take a pay cut, but we're sure it's been discussed. “I really don't want to talk about negotiations in the media," he said, via Alan Robinson of the...

‘Prime and ready to play great football,’ don’t be shocked if Ben Roethlisberger leads the Pittsburgh Steelers to Super Bowl XLVIII

Plagued by arm, shoulder and rib injuries throughout the 2012 season, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger now feels “great” and is actively participating in workouts. “I feel like I’m in my prime and ready to play great football,” said Roethlisberger, 31, who the Steelers (8-8) took 11th overall out of Miami University in the 2004 NFL Draft. “Big Ben,...

One Week Left Before The Start Of The 2013 League Year

There is just one week to go now before the start of the 2013 league year. The Pittsburgh Steelers are already under the $123 million cap number with a current Rule of 51 number of roughly $121,065,372.66 after the signing of cornerback William Gay on Monday. That number includes the $1.4 million cap credit that they are also reportedly due. As you can see, that number is just...

Schefter: Dolphins have a chance at landing Mike Wallace

ESPN’s Adam Schefter was asked if he believes the Miami Dolphins have a chance at landing Steelers wide receiver Mike Wallace in free agency. RT @cmre24: You thinks Miami has a chance of getting Mike Wallace? … Yup. Dolphins know they need to add weapons. Wallace on their radar. — Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 5, 2013 I think the Dolphins are the front-runners to sign...

Dear NFL: A Worried Fan's Letter to the League

Dear NFL,Leave the game alone.  Football is a contact sport and players are going to get hurt.  There are going to be concussions and career ending injuries, that’s life.  What the League doesn’t need is more teams, more games or an international team.  Please don’t widen the field to the CFL standard.  Why mess up a good thing? There are too many penalties being called...
