Found October 02, 2013 on The Pack Mentality:
Bad news for both Casey Hayward and James Starks as both have already been ruled out for this week's game against the Lions. Coach Mike McCarthy said that he doesn't know when either will be back. The news comes courtesy of ProFootballTalk: Packers coach Mike McCarthy said that neither cornerback Casey Hayward nor running back James Starks will be in the lineup. Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that McCarthy said he didn’t know when Hayward would be recovered from the hamstring injury that has kept him out for the entire regular season. The news on Starks is also not that surprising. He injured his knee in the game against the Bengals and the prognosis is that he would be a couple of weeks from playing again anyways. The team had called Michael Hill up from the practice squad earlier this week, which signaled that Starks wasn't going to be prepared for this week. The team can survive without Starks, but the loss of Hayward...

Time for Packers to say goodbye to James Starks

James Starks missed his senior year at the University of Buffalo because of injury and has been a regular on injury lists ever since. This may sound strange, because James Starks broke the 44-game streak. You know, that streak that was talked about nationwide because the Packers were finally able to tally a 100-yard rusher in a regular season game. Starks has been in and out of the...

Green Bay Packers: Defense is only getting healthier

Morgan Burnett (Photo credit: USA TODAY Sports) As the Green Bay Packers come off of their bye week, they hope that some of their pieces to their defense back as they head into the rest of their schedule.  In their last game against the Cincinnati Bengals, linebacker Clay Matthews was out for the entire second half with a sore hamstring.  When Matthews was in the game, he was trouble...

LB Clay Matthews makes progress from injured hamstring, practices fully

Green Bay Packers LB Clay Matthews fully participated at practice on Thursday as he works his way back from a hamstring injury he suffered two weeks ago against the Bengals.

Matthews back from sore hamstring

It's easy to spot Clay Matthews at Packers practice, with his long blond hair protruding from his helmet and on to his neck and shoulders. When the veterans are getting a break, the pass-rushing outside linebacker can often be found taking a breather next to A.J. Hawk, the durable inside linebacker. After some doubt, they'll be together again this weekend to face the Detroit...

Good news for Packers fans, this morning. We get our pass-blocking, physically-imposing, actually productive so far in 2013 tight-end back! As we settle into less than 98 hours until kick off, fans can start to turn the focus away from the debacle in Cincinnati - which included a plethora of Packers injuries. With the bye week, the Packers were able to focus on getting...

Packers downplaying 22-year winning streak over Lions

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- It's the longest winning streak in NFL history. Now going on 22 years since the Detroit Lions last defeated the Green Bay Packers in the state of Wisconsin, there are players on both teams who were infants at the time. The date was Dec. 15, 1991. It was a quarterback battle between Mike Tomczak and Erik Kramer with running back Barry Sanders only in his third...

Suh likes Aaron Rodgers but says they can't be friends

Ndamukong Suh and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers spent some time hanging out together at a football camp in Oregon this summer, and even though Suh indicated that he likes the Green Bay Packers quarterback well enough, the Detroit Lions defensive lineman says there’s no chance the two will ever be friends. And no, […]The post Ndamukong Suh likes Aaron Rodgers but...

Clay Matthews Improved to Full Practice Participant

In what is unquestionably an encouraging sign, Clay Matthews was upgraded to a full participant in practice today. Matthews is recovering from a hamstring injury that sidelined him during the game against the Bengals. While this is encouraging, and Matthews has said that he plans to play on Sunday, Mike McCarthy is taking a steady approach to gauge whether Matthews'...
