Ht: 6’3″ Wt: 265 lbs.

Jamie Blatnick is a tenacious defensive end “in a linebacker’s body.” He was named Oklahoma State’s Most Valuable Player on defense by his teammates in 2011, only his first full year starting, and one year after he served a one-game suspension following a bar fight in 2010. A 260-lb. run-stuffer in college, Blatnick doesn’t have the size to continue in that role at the NFL; he either has to produce as a pass rusher or bulk up to suit the defensive line. Scouted as a potential 3-4 OLB tweener, he had eight sacks through the 2011 season while netting 50 tackles. Scouts love his tenacity, durability, strength, and versatility. Decent in pass coverage for a linebacker; more than decent for a defensive end. Three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection. There is plenty of work to be done on Blatnick’s technique and first step, and his combine numbers weren’t great.

Scouting Reports: ESPN, DS, PFW, NFP, NFL, OSU, Broncos

Camp Competition: Elvis Dumervil, Robert Ayers, Jason Hunter, Jeremy Beal, Malik Jackson, Cyril Obiozer

Camp Outlook: As a stud out of the Big 12, Blatnick is considered one of the better UDFA signings in the entire AFC West. The Broncos use a heavy rotation of defensive ends as it is, so if Blatnick can bulk up and impress in the role of run-stuffer, he could find a home along the DL. I don’t see him ousting any of the Broncos’ pass rushers though, and fifth round pick Malik Jackson better suits the rookie run-stuffer mold at 290 lbs. Blatnick has his work cut out for him and may be a prime prospect for the practice squad.

BroncoTalk’s undrafted rookie reports are compiled by examining second-hand scouting reports, news articles, and, when available, film footage of the Broncos’ undrafted rookie. Blatnick is one of 13 undrafted free agent rookies the Broncos will bring in to compete in their 2012 training camp.

Ronnie Hillman to the Broncos: Fantasy Analysis

The Denver Broncos traded up to draft running back Ronnie Hillman in the third round. Every time you see a team trade up for a player, you expect the team to get that player involved early and with KnowShown Moreno a PUP list candidate, Hillman should have every opportunity to carve out a change of pace role behind starter Willis McGahee. Hillman uses his blocks well and has displayed...

Osweiler shows off new motion with Broncos

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) -- He's a big, raw Denver Broncos quarterback with throwing issues who worked with UCLA offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone on his own time to fix flaws. Sound familiar? While Tim Tebow's messy mechanics needed tons of work, Brock Osweiler needs more tweaks than anything, and he worked this offseason with Mazzone, who was his offensive coordinator at...

Denver Broncos sign CB Drayton Florence

The Broncos needed a 3rd cornerback for next season after cutting Andre Goodman. Goodman was owed 4.62 million in 2012 and at age 34 in August, he was an easy cut. Florence is getting up there in age as well, turning 32 in December, but at 4.5 million over 2 years, he’s a better value. Neither cornerback is particularly good. Andre Goodman ranked 75th on ProFootballFocus last year...
