Vikings defensive lineman Jared Allen went under the knife to fix a torn labrum in his left shoulder via Tom Pelissero of ESPN1500.
According to NFL sources, Allen played with the injury the entire 2012 season and knew as far back as training camp he would need surgery to correct the shoulder.
Allen is expected to be ready in time for training camp. It’s the first time Allen required surgery in his 9 year career. Allen’s 45 tackles was the second lowest of his career, and his sack total (12) was half of his production from the 2011 season (22).
