Jason Avant's personality has fit his game over the last few seasons- quite, but there when you need him whether it be for a quote or a 3rd down conversion. But this season, Avant has been a little bit more of a wild card. It was Avant that called the team meeting before the Washington Redskins game, and he has become one of the vocal leaders of the team through the media. His game has also become a bit of a wildcard, as he has uncharacteristically fumbled away balls he usually would hold on to.  Which is why it should come as no surprise that Jason Avant would not back down from his comments following the Eagles victory over the Cowboys, where he said that he did not want Eagles fans to "jump on the bandwagon." Here is what Avant had to say today after practice. "Let’s get this clear: I will not apologize for what I said,” said Avant to Tim McManus of PhillySportsDaily.com. "What I’m saying is we have an underdog mentality. Whether you cheer us or boo us we have an underdog mentality." Avant was not done there, as he went on a rant where he explained further what he meant.  "First of all, if they were real fans they never were off the team,” said Avant. “All are welcome to root for the Eagles. It’s not a thing of being mad; I wanted to let our guys know that we have to play through any adversity. Whether people boo us, whether people talk about us, we’re willing to play through hard situations. That’s what I meant by that.” Is Avant worried he may be boo'd? "I don’t really care. You know why? Because I play my hardest,” said Avant. “You’re going to boo me for playing hard? You’re going to boo me for chasing down a play when no one else is running? You’re going to boo me for being on special teams or going over the middle and taking a big shot? Boo me for doing what’s right. That’s fine.” Avant will get his answer on Monday night, but after today's comments, chances are that the boo birds may find their way down to him.
