The Eagles have officially started to pack it in after starting the 2012 season with a pitiful 3-8 record. The team announced on Tuesday they have released two-time Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Babin. Babin was a first-team All-Pro in 2011 and was voted to the Pro Bowl in 2010 and 2011. He recorded 12 1/2 sacks for the Titans in 2010 and was rewarded with a five-year, $27.725 million contract with the Eagles. The deal paid off immediately as he had 18 sacks in 2011. Babin started off slow in 2012 with 5 1/2 sacks. Since it’s after the trade deadline, Babin will have to go through the waiver process before being signed by another NFL team. He’s due another $1.64 million this season if another team picks him up on waivers, according to Albert Breer of NFL.com. Babin’s contract has him making $4.225 million in 2013 and $6 million in 2014 and 2015. Babin was the No. 27 overall pick by the Texans in 2004 and toiled around the league before finally breaking out with Tennessee in 2010. Photo via Facebook/JasonBabin93
