The New York Giants’ defense had a hard time with Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III this past Monday night.  Defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul is happy that they’ll be playing a typical offense then they play the Saints on Sunday. “The Redskins got a great scheme going on there, especially with their quarterback they got, and just playing that option, man, is crazy,” Pierre-Paul said, per The Newark Star-Ledger. “I think we’re one of the best teams that have played it, played it well, but it’s a pain in the (butt). I hate playing it. So now going up (against) a traditional offense, we know what we’re going to probably get, and it’s much easier.” Pierre-Paul seems happy that the Giants won’t have to worry about the option this week. “We already know what he’s capable of, and his targets and stuff, so we’ll go out there and play some great football,” Pierre-Paul said of Brees. “And we ain’t gotta worry about the option.” JPP says the Giants defense has played soft. “I think we’re a little soft, but I think we’ll get there,” Pierre-Paul said. “We haven’t played our best game this year, and I know that for a fact, that we haven’t played it.” JPP says the defense has to step up. As a defense, like, we have to make a statement,” Pierre-Paul said. “We haven’t made a statement ever since, I’ll say, San Francisco. Well, I’m lying, because we did beat up on Green Bay quite a little bit. But, ever since then, we haven’t made a statement. We’ve just been losing. And we’re all not playing together. When you’re a team, on an organization like this, you’ve got to play together as one. Otherwise, you’ll keep going downhill.” The Giants’ defense does seem like they’ve been just going through the motions lately. Even though Brees and the Saints don’t run the option, he’ll give them fits if they can’t put pressure on him.   Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; script.src = 'http://widget.crowdignite.com/widgets/27484?_ci_wid=_CI_widget_'+_CI.counter; script.async = true; ref.parentNode.insertBefore(script, ref); })(); sr_adspace_id = 1000005525107; sr_adspace_width = 300; sr_adspace_height = 250; sr_ad_new_window = true; sr_adspace_type = "graphic";
