SAN DIEGO – The Miami Dolphins will face San Diego without two of the team’s regular starters.
Cornerback Vontae Davis (hamstring) and Koa Misi (neck injury) won’t play against the Chargers because of injuries they’re nursing. Neither will tailback Daniel Thomas, the team’s leading rusher, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury of his own.
Second-year cornerback Nolan Carroll and Jason Taylor, the NFL’s active sacks leader, will start in their place.

Today’s game will be Taylor’s first start of the season, but the 198th of his 15 year NFL career.
Taylor, who has contributed three tackles and one sack this season, typically works with the first team defense in the nickel and dime packages while Misi is used in the base 3-4 set. It’s unclear if Taylor’s role will change or if the Dolphins will use Ikaika Alama-Francis or Jason Trusnik to fill the void Misi’ absence creates.
