(Eds: APNewsNow. With AP Photos.) By CHRIS DUNCAN AP Sports Writer Gary Kubiak thinks the Houston Texans may have found another undrafted free agent with star potential.
Lestar Jean has emerged as the leading candidate to fill the No. 3 receiver slot behind Andre Johnson and Kevin Walter. And Kubiak foresees great things down the road for the 24-year-old Jean, who leads the Texans with six receptions in the preseason.
In 2009, Houston took a chance by signing undrafted free agent Arian Foster. Foster led the NFL in rushing in 2010 and made his second Pro Bowl last season. Like Foster back then, Jean is just worried about making the final roster now.

The Texans moved to 2-0 on Saturday night with their 20-9 win over the San Francisco 49ers, a team who played for the NFC championship last year. It was another very encouraging performance from the squad. I took a look at some key numbers from the game to find out what the Texans did well and what they need to work on.
Matt Schaub’s completion percentage (11...
After winning their 1st game of the preseason by the tune of 26-13 over the Carolina Panthers the Houston Texans looked for yet another win against a far more formidable opponent in the San Fransisco 49ers. Both teams have premiere defenses and yet that’s not where the game was won. A week after the 1st unit couldn’t get it done on offense in the red zone, the Texans road the...
The second preseason game is in the books and the Houston Texans came out with a win over the San Francisco 49ers, 20-9. As always, there was plenty news and notes from the game and some players making some noise to stay with the Texans into week 1. Game two of the preseason has helped separate some players from others and let fans get a better idea on how the coaches and front...
When the Houston Texans picked up LSU return specialist in the tail end of the 2010 NFL Draft, many chuckled, yours truly included. Sure, there have been small guys to play in this league, but at just 5’5″, no one thought this guy had much of a chance other than to be a training camp laugh.
With the way his pro career started, it seemed those claims were validated, as he fumbled...
Houston Texans running back Arian Foster cuts a bedtime story short so he can watch Monday Night Football in a new ESPN commercial.
As the commercial cuts to a young girl's bedroom, Foster reads "And the princess says 'Never Mind', and that's the end." before quickly closing the book and shutting off the light.
Naturally the young girl feels cheated...
The Houston Texans opened their preseason home debut against the San Francisco 49ers which was considered a good barometer to see where they are in terms of progress this year. The 49ers are a big physical team with the same offensive philosophy as the Texans as a run heavy team, and a team that runs a stout 3-4 defense ranking ahead of the Texans against the run. This was one...
Two years ago when the Houston Texans finished dead last in pass defense it was made a priority to improve a defense that included many talented players like Mario Williams, Demeco Ryans, and Brian Cushing. That offeason the team signed Wade Phillips, a Houston native and son of the iconic Bum Phillips. I remember fans mumbling about what would have to be done to become a 3...

HOUSTON (AP) -- The city of Houston wants to become a part of college football's playoff system.
Houston submitted a bid on Tuesday to host the new Big 12-Southeastern Conference bowl and join the rotation for semifinal games in the sport's new postseason format, which begins in the 2014 season.
The champions of the Big 12 and Southeastern...
After attaining their first-ever playoff appearance and postseason victory in franchise history last season, the Houston Texans enter 2012 already as a popular pick among many pundits to make the trip to the big stage in New Orleans.
“I think it’s Super Bowl or bust for them,” NFL Network’s Albert Breer said late last week on SportsRadio 610. ”I asked Andre Johnson...
This would be a dream matchup if only it weren't a preseason game.
The San Francisco 49ers and Houston Texans represent the two most complete teams in the NFL.
The similarities between them stretch from their solid run game, to their effective-yet-underrated quarterbacks, to two of the best run defenses in the league.
This would be a dream Super Bow for many - especially in...
Today according to Head Coach Gary Kubiak, nose tackle Ra’Shon “Sunny” Harris was lost today for the season with a torn triceps injury. Harris will probably end up on the injured reserve, but that move it yet to happen.
Harris was having a good camp, but was slowed at the beginning with an upper leg injury that held him out the first preseason game. He appeared in the second...
Houston Texans reserve defensive tackle Ra'Shon Harris is out for the season after tearing his right triceps.
Coach Gary Kubiak says the 6-foot-5, 300-pound Harris was hurt during an individual period on Tuesday and will be placed on injured reserve.
Harris signed with Houston as an unrestricted free agent in January. He was originally a sixth-round draft pick by Pittsburgh...
