EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. The Minnesota Vikings locked up more depth in their secondary on Friday when the team announced that cornerback A.J. Jefferson had signed his restricted free agent tender, according to a tweet from the teams official Twitter account.
Jefferson, acquired in a trade with the Arizona Cardinals prior to the season-opener last year, had 37 tackles, five pass deflections and one fumble recovery while starting seven of his 15 games last season with Minnesota. The Vikings retained Jeffersons rights by tendering him earlier, and the 25-year-old signed the one-year contract on Friday.
With Antoine Winfields status still uncertain Minnesota released its veteran cornerback in March, but hopes to re-sign him Jefferson likely figures in as the second or third cornerback on the team's roster behind Chris Cook and possibly second-year corner Josh Robinson. Robinson, a 2012 third-round draft pick, and Jefferson would likely compete to start. Jefferson started games alongsi...

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is not happy about the NFL's new helmet rule, saying, "Sooner or later we’re going to be playing touch football."
It's week three of the Minnesota Vikings uniform unveiling charade (apparently), and we have a collection of additional clues for you to look and at try to piece together what it all means.
Today, the Vikings have released previews of their new uniform. Actually, it was done in pieces. Like they cut someone's body up that was wearing them and then submitted photos like...
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is perhaps the most violent runner in the game today. A unique combination of speed and strength, Peterson has been known throughout his career for running over defenders and then separating from the rest of the defense when he turns on the blazers.
But as we all know, the NFL has now outlawed runners in the open field from using the...

Peterson came across torn about the new rule.
“Sooner or later we’re going to be playing touch football,” Peterson told me amidst rolling eyes and a frustrated shaking head. “That’s just the passion in me that said that and then...
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. Adrian Peterson proved coming back from major knee surgery to be no obstacle for his immense talents.
But can he overcome a cover jinx?
Peterson, the Minnesota Vikings MVP running back after rushing for the second-most yards in single-season NFL history, is one of the final four players in the annual voting for the 'Madden 25' video game cover.
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. Emotional ties weren't enough for the Minnesota Vikings to keep cornerback Antoine Winfield from finding a new team and a chance at an elusive Super Bowl ring.
Winfield, who will turn 36 in June, has reached an agreement with the Seattle Seahawks on a one-year deal, according to multiple reports. Winfield, a 14-year veteran, was released by the Vikings on...
Nine years ago, one of the best Vikings stories of a free agent pursuit took place. It also involved Antoine Winfield’s “decision,” some personal negotiating tactics and a storyteller with a flair for the dramatic.
Former NFL quarterback Brett Favre said his approach changed throughout his career depending on the amount of talent he had around him. If the 11-time Pro Bowl selection knew he was surrounded with a talented group, he took less chances and wasn't as much of a gunslinger on the field.
When it comes to judging Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, Favre sees it the same way....

ESPN.com first reported Winfield reaching an agreement with the Seahawks on Friday. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the deal hadn't been announced by the team.
