The Vikings played arguably their best game of the season on Sunday, piling up 48 points in a win over the NFC East-leading Eagles. But some after-the-whistle activity left a bad taste in mouth of Minnesota receiver Jerome Simpson. Simpson told reporters after the 48-30 victory that one of the game officials had some choice words for Vikings players that the wideout did not appreciate. “There were some questionable things, what the ref also said to a couple of our players,” Simpson said, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. “I won’t go into that. It was kind of some stuff, controversial things that he said to a couple of our players. … It wasn’t good what he said. But I’ll leave it at that. I’ll let him live.” Simpson, who said the remarks were not racist, chose not to identify the official in question, saying only that it was the one who called a taunting penalty on him midway through the fourth quarter. Simpson also said that he tried to approach said official after the game b...

WAIT, WAT? Bill O'Brien to be Next Minnesota Vikings Coach?

What if I told you that the 2013 Minnesota Vikings miraculously winning a football game on Sunday wasn't even the biggest news about the team that day? Your jaw would drop on the floor, right? Because how could a win from a team this bad NOT be the headliner of the day? Well, lost amongst the 48 point bukkake from the Vikings on Sunday was a little news nugget concerning...

Matt Cassel could be the Vikings permanent quarterback going into 2014

At 4-9-1, there’s little overt optimism when considering the Minnesota Vikings’ 2013 campaign. Looking a little closer, however, we see that there is in fact a silver lining that has developed for the Vikings, and that would be quarterback Matt Cassel. In the seven games that Matt Cassel has taken snaps, the Vikings are a respectable 4-3. To put more perspective on that record...

Vikings ponder what might have been

(Eds: With AP Photos.) By JON KRAWCZYNSKI AP Sports Writer The Minnesota Vikings play in a division that has been up for grabs all season long. They've had four losses - and a tie - by four points or less. So many factors led to the Vikings (4-9-1) being on the outside looking in as the season winds down. But one appears to stick out more than any other. Matt Cassel has grabbed...

Shaun Prater uncaged against former team in Vikings' win

MINNEAPOLIS -- Since signing with the Minnesota Vikings in October, Shaun Prater was champing at the bit. He waited for his time to make an impact and had one game in mind - Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. It was Philadelphia who had released Prater allowing Minnesota to sign the cornerback drafted in the fifth round by the Cincinnati Bengals last year. It was the Vikings...

Report: Players informed Adrian Peterson, Toby Gerhart won't play

Adrian Peterson not playing beat the Philadelphia Eagles

So often NFL analysts will talk about trap games, and so often coaches and players will dismiss a game being one because they take every team serious and play one game at a time. T he players toe the company line and the coaches may honestly believe there is no such thing. If any game this season would fall under this “trap game” category it would have been the Philadelphia...

Minnesota Vikings at Cincinnati Bengals: 2013 Week 16 NFL Pick

Minnesota Vikings (4-9-1) at Cincinnati Bengals (9-5) The Bengals lost last week pretty convincingly in Pittsburgh in a surprise loss that really shouldn’t have been much of a surprise to anyone. The Bengals just aren’t the same team on the road. They’ve already lost pretty convincingly on the road to Cleveland and Baltimore (the Bengals needed an improbable Hail Mary to even...
