Bucs Beat:
As expected, the Bucs have released tight end Jerramy Stevens after his weekend arrest on two felony drug charges, the Bucs announced.
Stevens will be replaced on the active roster by Ryan Purvis, who is being promoted from the practice squad.
The Bucs mad Stevens inactive for Sunday's win over the Rams and made it clear they were not going to take the arrest lightly. Coach Raheem Morris is scheduled to have a press conference at the top of the hour during which he'll likely address the Stevens situation.
Stevens was on a short leash with the organization and the NFL becuase of his history and involvement with the league's substance-abuse policy. He was convicted in 2007 for extreme DUI in Arizona and sentenced to 30 days in jail. That was one of several alcohol-related incidents in his checkered history.
In this case, a Tampa police officer said he smelled marijuana coming from Stevens' Ford truck during a traffic stop and a search yielded 38 grams of the drug. Stev...
